Watching Question of Sport last night and the question of a curry came up - Paddy McGuinness said he always had it with half chips, half rice. What kind of abomination is that? Is it a northern thing or is McGuinness just weird?

Abomination ? So you have never had chips and rice with curry it just means instead of a full portion of rice and chips with your curry you get half of each,which means you are paying less for your meal.

I lived in town for a few months about 20 years ago. Bloom street chippy did halfanhalf with chilli, just a great stodgy antidote to too much beer at the end of the night.

I like the Mayflower powdered curry. I mix half hot and half medium together. Stir fry king prawns with onion and peas and when cooked stir in the curry sauce. Have it with chips or rice or both. Bob on.

Think it depends on the curry. Chip shop, plain. Maybe occasionally egg fried. But sub-continent style, I’d say pilau or plain depending on what curry.

I do mix my rice up quite a bit - hence why I asked the question!

I've had it before, for the texture as much as anything else.

Usually just with rice though.
