I think this is sadly why the most severe sanctions possible need to be put in place to force Russians to remove him, literally cut russia off from the world as far as possible as well as the oligarchy living in the West, if the whole country is in turmoil and suffering they have only a few solution, either the population rise up, the Oligarchy kick him out or he backs off.

Unfortunately it would mean innocent Russians would also suffer, I dont see any other option to end what is happening without waging war which would be unimaginably worse.

He's one man and I know he'll surround himself with yes men and bodyguards but surely there must be powerful men at the top who can take the lunatic out? None of them can think this is good for the country or themselves surely?

A lot of people seem keen to make this point but I wonder how relevant it is. We happily talk about the UK, the Netherlands, and the US without delegitimising their existence as sovereign states.

I think one of the African nations uniquely officially has ‘The’ at the start of its title in a territorial sense (referring to the river). Can’t remember which one, The Gambia, The Congo, maybe.

Many other nations proudly have ‘The’ at the beginning in their official names, although generally in a non-territorial sense. Our own ‘The United Kingdom of…’ and various others: ‘The people’s democratic…’ etc.
