I believe that is the right course of action but you can't do that overnight. You can't instantly stop relying on natural gas as a energy supply, it will take years, decades infact to wean countries off gas, and secondly you can't just change supplier. There are no pipelines from the middle east into Europe and the only other way is to bring it in via tankers, that requires extra terminals for them to dock, again this will take time (several years minimum) to build the extra required infrastructure.Biden let slip last night but despite all the sanctions, energy payments to Russia are still going ahead which to me makes a bit of a mockery out of the sanctions and tells us all how much of Europe is desperate for Russian gas and oil.
We have to take the hit and stop any payments and we have to source it from elsewhere.
