Russian invasion of Ukraine

Literally living rent free in some people's heads, and they fall for it every time he throws a bone to keep himself relevant.
The man wanted to withdraw USA from NATO. His businesses are invested in by Russians and he was saved from bankruptcy by Russians and his election was tampered with by Russians. He’s part of this story since NATO are a big part of this and also being blamed by some posters for all this.

Look at the poster you’re replying to. It’s been the same story with him for years where Trump is concerned. He doesn’t like him being discussed because… reasons.

Very informative post. Thank you for that.
Whilst the Tory Party, our Government and others may have enabled the Putin regime in part, Putin and Putin alone is responsible for this crime. Hopefully Johnson et al will now put all past relationships and pressures aside, work closely with the EU and USA and do what is right.

They why did they take Crimea then ? Also relying constantly on other countries to lend you trade routes they can revoke in the blink of an eye isn't really in the best interests of a country. I don't agree it's a bad thread but its a insight into why this is happening because many don't understand why this invasion is happening. Everyone saying NATO NATO just isn't enough for me
Crimea is a tough one to answer. It was never officially part of Ukraine until it was gifted from Russia by Kruschev, and so Putin plus many others don't see this as a legitimate reason for Ukraine to keep hold of it now it is independent. Kruschev (born just outside the border) and his successor Brezhnev (born within) both had strong ties to Ukraine and so it looks like it was never challenged during their times, although there would have been no reason to, of course. The argument in Russian government seems to be that Kruschev had no right to give away this land in the first place. I agree there was strategic reason for reclaiming it but also there was a symbolic aspect to it.

Trump added that bit on at the end of for optics, he's shown a clear admiration for dictators / authoritarians over the years.

The guy is a fucking prick and should never be anywhere near a position of power again.
I don’t disagree
