He might have thought that, he’s definitely not thinking that now. We allowed it to happen by allowing Putin and particular friends in the west to set the narrative that any of the things you mention were enough to cause proper division in our society and our ideals enough for him to attempt what he has. The reaction, both from the world in general but more so from Ukraine, has shown how wrong that was.

People with your opinion are the ones that Putin has influenced and wanted to create and you seemingly don’t even realise it.

They haven’t mate. They have said “selected Russian banks” which means many will be able to carry on, presumably those that are most important to trading with Germany will carry on. I understand why we can’t cause WW3 over the invasion of a non NATO country, but to not have a ban on all Russian banks is disgusting. Euros are seemingly more important than Ukrainian lives

They are not the reasons Putin doesn't care, the reason he is doing this and isn't bothered is simply because Europe has become reliant on Russian oil and gas. He knows that Democratically elected western governments are answerable to their electorate, we can't just go elsewhere for energy overnight. That's why the western governments haven't adopted full exclusion of Russia from SWIFT banking system, so we can still buy Russian Gas and Oil.
