Russia have in theor arsenal Topol warheads that yield 800mt, if one of them exploded in the air just south of kyiv it would wipe out the city, but the fallout radius would fall short of the neigbouring countries.

Technically not harming NATO countries in any directly agresive way, question is would the mad bastard risk it, and would we say NATO wasn't attacked and allow it?

It’s frightening how many people wanting us to go into war with Russia do not realise this.

Go and look at pictures/videos of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, times the blasts by 50 and now imagine that being every city in the US and Europe.

Russia don’t have 6000 war heads ready to go. Most of it is stocks, those that are active are tactical. They have what about 1k or so on about 300 strategic ICBMs. Pick 1000 targets from Alaska to Estonia. It won’t be Armageddon for us all but for many it will be the end. And for those that survive life would be unimaginably hard, but they would survive.

There would be no winner. It would be the end of the world as we know it so it might as well be Armageddon. You might be better off dead than alive.

Don't treat a nuclear armed state as though it was a pariah. Give him an escape route.
We don't escalate militarily, we only supply Ukraine with defensive weapons as we have been doing.
If he withdraws from the Ukraine then we say we will remove sanctions.

Agreed. Putin will need a face saver. Perhaps recognition of the two separatist regions with security guarantees for the rest of Ukraine, ie NATO/EU membership?

I VERY much doubt that. The problem with the nuclear deterrent is only a mad, power-crazed lunatic can ever use it.

And we are not that. If the west retaliated with a nuclear strike on Russia, it would mean death for the majority of the human race, and civilization being put back hundreds of years. No-one sane is ever going to risk that.
