Russian invasion of Ukraine

Trump and the Republicans admire Putin because of his nationalism and the weird association with him and strength. People like Nigel Farage are the same, they long for a Putin type authoritarian governmental system which stamps over anything that was put in place to stop the implementation of rather questionable policies.

What this war represents for these kind of people is a rejection of the kind of thing that they stand for which is aggressive nationalism. They can't have this because we are a democracy and have laws to stop it so they admire people that overrule it and that's why they can't help but find themselves sympathising with Putin.

He sounds like a right twat with all this poke the Bear shit. It's so fucking irritating listening to these fucking weirdos go on like we should all fall at the feet of this giant, whopping **** bucket that is Russia

Yeah fuck off

The ruskies are aiming for the tv tower in kyiv , not sure if it hit but progs will be interupted they say , understated as we know they are , the president is a shortarse but with huge balls

I just keep looking at my kids plus new born and thinking this could be it it’s angin. I know I can’t control it but it’s already set in my body. I wasn’t bothered with covid but nukes different level mate.
It's not easy to do and I'm definitely not doing it, but stop watching the news, or finding other places that repeat it, like here. The media loves things like this and they'll fill every minute with it. Knowing there's an invasion is one thing, 24 hour rolling news of the same story is another.

As terrible as it is, it doesn't affect you and there's nothing you can do to change what's happening. If you hear the sound of bombs on Deansgate, maybe have a quick look at Northwest Tonight, but otherwise stay away and do the thinks that matter to you, like spending time with the kids and enjoying it.

Few vids of it being attacked in that thread, it's an attack on the press surely.

Russia have started to blow up TV towers to prevent the Ukrainian President broadcasting and winning the propaganda war.

i think that would be the wrong way to go.
however if you are going to appease Putin with territory then letting the rump Ukraine join NATO is imperative.
Its the only thing that would stop Putin regrouping and attacking again
So we go to war with him for bits of Ukraine that think they should be Russian anyway? We can keep this going, many thousands will die and then there will be a peace. Maybe try to find the peace now.

That's not appeasement and it needs some solid lines to avoid peace in our time type issues, but it's easy to sit in relative safety and suggest others die

I'm becoming increasingly certain that China are now the most important player in all this and they along with the Russian people are the only ones who can stop this. Putin is not going to relent from here but he will listen to China. I have faith in China to do the right thing and lean heavily on Russia to stop this madness.

We are entering a new phase in this war now, Putin initially didn't intend on targeting civilian area as he thought it would be a walkover. Given the strong resistance he will need to up the ante and your now seeing them target tv masts and quite obviously destroying city centres. I found this scenario unthinkable at the turn of the year, yet here we are.

At what point do you think the west decide enough is enough and go beyond sanctions?
