Russian invasion of Ukraine

FIA are corrupt b*stards allowing Mazepin to drive in the new season (under neutral flag).

Oh well, at least we can watch the clown finish each race.

Well if daddy has his assets frozen and can’t afford the sponsorship money, the only thing he’ll be driving is a Moscow taxi.

You didn't at all, and although in response to your post it wasn't aimed at you at all. I was expanding on your point and mentioning a few themes that have been on here.

There is a world of diffeewnce between saying Putin thinks NATO is a threat to Russia and is part of the reason for this invasion (that you suggested), and that the EU, the West and NATO caused this invasion by forcefully expanding on Putin so poor guy had no choice but to follow up on his clear long term threats. That one or two others have implied.

That was really all I was saying.
Ah cool cool. Cheers.

Rarely wade into off topic, find people quick to throw stones about stuff. But suppose thats just the nature of trying to have nuanced discussion on an internet forum with strangers.

Be a shame if they all froze and starved to death in that stationary convoy.

But I’m not supposed to revel in such ideas according to some on here, because they’ve all got mums at home.

They’re only “following orders”. Now where has that defence been used before…

Did you wish the same for British and American troops in Afghanistan / Iraq?

No, why would I. What an ugly bit of lazy, offensive whataboutery.

This isn’t about Iraq. And whatever mistakes were made in those conflicts, the British and American forces went there to try and rid those counties of evil despotic warlords who were murdering their own people and harbouring terrorists.

If you’re drawing a parallel between that and what Russia are doing to Ukraine now you’re sick in the fucking head.

The nearest comparison to Putin is Hitler.

Do you have any clue how many civilians were killed in Iraq alone - it's estimated to be about 14k, by allied forces.

It also left both countries in ruins.

The reason I brought this up was because you are trying to draw parallels to "other fighters following orders".

And Saddam Hussein murdered about 100,000 people.

Mistakes were made in that war but seeing that monster hang was absolutely the right thing to do.

Anyway I’m not getting drawn into this further. This thread is about the atrocities and war crimes being committed by Russian soldiers, and when this is over, every single one of them that pulled a trigger on innocent people needs to answer for them.

Ukrainians soldiers apparently having psychological problems....from killing so many Russian soldiers - 'we feel like butchers.'

Could be bulshit but thought I'd post it anyway. Twitter

Let's hope they get used to it because there's a lot more to come.

I disagree with our motivations for going into Iraq but to compare that conflict and this one (I am not even mentioning Afghanistan), to compare British soldiers to Russian ones here, is disgusting and you’re a fucking **** for comparing the two.

I never mentioned their mothers, nor following orders. I’m sure the vast majority of us want to see Ukraine defeat Russia, by whatever means necessary. However, personally I don’t want to see Russian soldiers burn to death, freeze to death, starve to death, or whatever else you can dream up for them?

Pretty much my thoughts.

The coalition troops were literally greeted by cheering crowds and it was only as clearing out Saddam became occupation that the Iraqi’s started to turn, and only 1% were ever insurgents according to that former soldier whose thread I tweeted earlier.

Comparing it to this invasion is so stupid the only other person I’ve seen do it is Putins UN envoy.

I had family there so not taking that shit.

We went in to fight evil, made fuck ups, probably caused more damage than good in the end but our lads were fighting an evil despot.

What Russia are doing is attacking a peaceful nation that has a good leader all for their own view of creating a new Russian empire.

I would concur 1-2% would try to kill you, 8-15% were wearily as fuck about you, the rest you generally pretty happy you were there. Those numbers will be totally reversed for a Russian during occupation in Kyiv
