Putin says alot of things, like Ukrainians committing genocide in the name of their Jewish Nazi leader.

It’s not his honesty I’m relying on for my argument, it’s his capacity to engage in unjustified warfare. He seems capable on that score.

This nuclear threat is going to allow Putin to invade every non-NATO, non-EU country that he wants.

I understand the fallout of direct involvement but more needs to be done to support Ukraine. They need more planes, more weapons, more of everything.

Totally accept and acknowledge that @mossideble, but could we not act as an enabler to help facilitate a peaceful settlement? It's better than trying to enforce an Air Exclusion Zone or leaving the Ukranians to fight and suffer alone?

I would suggest the way the Ukranians are scrapping, negotiating a land give is not on the agenda

Best bet would be all other competitors walk off the start line...... leave them to it......embarrass the IOC...... huge ask of people who have strived to get there but I doubt it would be allowed to go beyond the first couple of heats before the decision was reversed

The problems are here and now. The Kremlin just announced that “The countries economic reality has considerably changed” and that Sberbank has run out of money after a run on the bank.

The stock exchange is STILL closed today, the rouble is at the lowest it’s ever been.

These economic sanctions are not short term issues, they are hitting right now.

They are hitting Russians, but not hitting Putin. So long as he can continue to feed and arm his forces, I doubt he gives a fuck.

I really worry about these next few days. If they take Ukraine which is looking likely. What's next ? If I were NATO right now I'd be looking to ratify the memberships of any country with aspirations to join, especially those that flank Russia and Ukraine. And I don't care how aggressive that looks. If you can't save Ukraine then strengthen the surrounding regions

Yep, which makes me nervous, as Putin has already called one bluff in terms of Western boots on the ground.

Many Russians will only feel the hurt of sanctions and Hitler utilised the Treaty of Versailles to his own end.

The Russian public are only getting one side of the story.

The final Putin bluff is one of mutually assured destruction, which he seems more than capable of calling.

Putin has to be careful here
He can keep pushing and making threats but ultimately if he instigates a full scale war with the west he will lose and lose big time
The west doesn’t want to engage, but if and when forced to they will destroy him
