Russian invasion of Ukraine

Seems to be fairly common consensus that a good percentage of the invading army are either fucked, starving, freezing, disillusioned or simply not interested in carrying on. Which *IF* true, is great news. It’s beginning to seem that lots of Russian citizens and troops are not buying this evil bullshit…
I really hope so. I am not religious but pray for peace.

They’ve also blocked it in several places to the rear to further complicate the remf op to re-supply fuel munitions food
The BBC radio report had some military expert saying that the advantage of the convoy was that it was self-sufficient and would have all the fuel and supplies it needed in the convoy, is that not correct?

This was when it was a mere 17 miles long, before it grew to 40 miles!

My friends uncle said its was 400 miles long!

Self sufficient will be self sufficient for x hours. No one knows exactly what x is, but between attacks, breakdowns, ground conditions, shit comms, shit planning etc it’s been barely able to move beyond spreading out to the rear in 70ish hours so it’s a pretty shite convoy thus far.

It was said yesterday that although it's 40miles long it's in separate columns that stretch 40miles as opposed to bumper to bumper like in the aerial photos.

Either way it's a fucking lot of vehicles and Russians.

It’s staggering how many people seem to be oblivious or advocating risking that if we go NATO v Russia then we more than likely end up going nuclear and it’s game over for most of us, including the Ukrainians.

It’s shit for Ukraine, but in my opinion risking wiping out the human race and most animals that rely on vegetation isn’t a price worth risking to attempt to put it right. People are advocating risking the lives of ~8 Billion people to save Ukraine. Ukraine will fight and make life / occupation hell for Russia, and they will inevitably withdraw. We can support Ukraine in this effort.

Right. I’m going to carry on watching ‘the day after’. The start of that (radio/tv commentary on the Russia / NATO escalations) are worryingly similar.
Worth noting that a modern world nuclear war wouldn’t come close to wiping out the human race and definitely wouldn’t wipe out all vegetation. Though I am pleased to presently be living on a large island that’s made up of 99% rain forest and zero military targets.

The consequences of just doing nothing military at the moment is the death, and murder of millions of Ukranions.
Do them now, and deal with the consequeneces, if and when.
WE tried appeasement in 1938, look where that ended.

It's looking more and more likely that Moldova's Transnistria region and potentially Sweden and Finland are next on Putin's radar. None of these nations are in NATO (although they have expressed interest). That should begin to tell you more about Putin's tactics.

An invasion of Poland, Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia, all NATO members, would bring all members of NATO into the conflict, and we'd have War in Europe once more. Putin fears this, which is why he's targeting every nation of Europe within range that isn't a NATO member (Sweden was never part of the Soviet Union as they were technically 'neutral')

It's believed that Putin's motivation is to re-create a Russian Empire, a modern Tsardom, one that has influence over Europe so it will become less Transatlantic and allied with the United States, and instead be a Europe influenced by Russian doctrine. The more non-NATO nations he can swallow, the more he believes he will achieve this goal. Unfortunately for him, those nations are allied with NATO either directly, or as EU members, for his plan to succeed. The only European nation within reach that did not fit into either catagory was, you guessed it, Ukraine.
Putins motives are in question right now -because any rational motive has disappeared with this Ukraine adventure. My own feeling is that the Putin era will end with the Russians bogged down in the Ukraine -he will probably die su

Interesting thread that explains what a No Fly Zone (NFZ) entails and why it is currently impractical in the Ukraine.

Good to see it explained by somebody who knows what they are talking about instead of the usual You Tube Bullshitters.

People trying to make their lives better, how dare they!!

They should not have been born into a poor country. They deserve it. We live in a wealthy country as it is our right. Don't get me started on working class kids who go to university and start getting ideas above their station.

What does Putin think will happen if he actually secures Ukraine?

"Da, lets trade with West again! Play football, watch movies, host olympics, sing the Eurovision!" Russia is now a pariah state, the world had collectively stated they want nothing to do with them or any who associate with them.

They're a ghost nation until they answer for and rectify this heinous act of unjustified aggression. Don't understand his endgame, because if it's to invade another European nation, it'll be an EU member or NATO member and then military intervention will be taken.
I don’t think your av
