Yes, the likes of mat could do a lot worse than read the Guardian article that Perfect Fumble posted a day or two ago about the error some on the left make when falling for Russian talking points simply because it strikes a chord with their anti-western imperialism narrative.

Putin is a busted flush in conventional arms terms - the Ukrainian forces are holding them at bay despite not having anything like air superiority. A 40km convoy is beached - held up by a mixture of poor off road terrain - Ukrainian resistance and poor logistical support. He now knows that to bring NATO into a shooting war will finish his glorious army off. The elephant in the room is the nukes but that is where we have to rely on those around him stopping him from going that far whilst we make clear any use of nukes will result in Russia becoming a wasteland in very short order
Any Russian who does not publicly speak out against what is happening deserves complete contempt - I want the sanctions to turn their country into a 3rd world country so that the people can see where Putin has led them. Abandoned armour in Ukraine left as soldiers trudge home because of breakdowns and no spares - airliners that can't fly because there is no support for them - queues outside shops that have next to fuck all in them and what they have in there costs a zillion roubles to buy - no well paid jobs because all the western corporations have gone home - cars that don't work because a breakdown can't be fixed with no spares - Oligarch's sent packing their private jets confiscated and their luxury yachts scuttled and when its on its belly then we really twist the screw - they have to understand that scenes like this Dad crying do not belong in 21st Century Europe

Fire is a terrible weapon - a former brother in law went up in flames in front of me at a BBQ at my mums ( a fellow Bluemooner will identify Crossy from that ) and whilst he survived the wounds, the damage and the fucking fearful sight will live with me forever. And Russian soldier trapped in the open seeing comrades running around on fire with flammable liquid stuck to them will soon have his mettle tested...... a mate shot in the head would be awful but instant - a mate on fire......

they established one after the Cuban Missile Crisis when it became apparent the end of the world nearly happened due to a false alarm.

That’s what I can’t get. Posters are presumably posting in good faith but just completely unable to understand cause and effect. NATO aren’t expanding to threaten Russia. Russia is well aware that they have nukes and any attack on them is the end of the world. They aren’t remotely worried about that as seen by the fact NATO are doing fuck all militarily to help Ukraine.

Look around the world, the dictators are dying out because post WW2 everyone had their uprising. Putin even has the gall to bring up the 1917 revolution in his speeches.
It won’t be Biden or Putin.
It will be some sort of high ranking military commanders I imagine.
They’ll be able to instantly calm down the other side if something is spotted out of the ordinary.

He can though. It's the fuckers in his inner circle that have to stop him as they can get close to him and either talk him around ( Unlikely) or imprison/kill him. The citizens are fucked because any dissent will be brutally crushed. They were even rounding up kids protesting. That fear keeps them in line. You look at it in simplicity and if everyone just refused to comply Putin is fucked. The problem is people will always be willing to comply and kill their own people in the process and so it goes on throughout history, with few exceptions.
Eastern European countries are queuing up to join NATO, what these people don’t understand is NATO aren’t going out and procuring these countries. These nations have seen the beast from the east and want protection for their sovereignty.

just been watching a docu on youtube some professor saying its over even if either Russia or NATO couldnt reply to a strike, people may live a few months but would certainly starve as a nuclear winter sets in and food could not be grown the west could get by for 60 days without any other food entering the chain and Russia around a week
