Russian invasion of Ukraine

I honestly think Putin will be looking for a way out right now.
He knows he’s fucked, either now or down the line
He doesn’t have a plan, he’s making it up as he goes
He will want to cause as much devastation as he can before he declares his ‘victory’
But like most dick heads he is still pretending he is achieving his aims

I'd hoped your first line was right, until the Macron meeting where he had every opportunity to claim down a little, but chose none of it. In fact quite the opposite.

And then on QT last night the Russian guy saying the only way he stops is if the Ukrainians fight hard enough that he is losing. And even then we must be careful to make sure there is a latter for him to climb down (he said).

People have been saying this for a while now and I don't see him slowing down in the short term.

I think he also does have a plan, it's just the execution of it.
 
That Amanda Staveley can fuck right off, spouting off about how sorry she feels for roman abramovic, saying he’s done nothing wrong. Fucking nothing wrong, he’s made a corrupt fortune out of putin and shitting on the Russian people, remains friends with putin and hasn’t said a fucking word against putin and the invasion. He is a ****, she hasn’t got a clue, the geordies are welcome to her insensitivity and daft comments

Yeah they know much more and have better experts , their war journo's are fearless , must have been because of the wars were they were embedded , they go straight to the heart instead of camping on the border as some of ours do

What Macron leaked about "things will get worse" is highly, highly significant and chilling.

This is only the start.

That’s what I mean he will double down for now because he has to be seen to achieve something (in his own head)
But he will be doing this to look billy big bollocks now before he gets out and proclaims some non existent victory

I agree with you. But I don't think Macron's comment that worse is to come was a hint at any sort of escalation beyond the current conflict, because surely if any hints of that were given by Putin, Macron would have said so.

I think he just meant that it is clear that Putin will not stop until he's achieved his objectives (in Ukraine) and since the Ukrainians are not for surrendering, then it's going to get even worse.
 
I didn’t agree with other posters last week that China might be the eventual answer to this, but the fact they are abstaining in the UN rather than voting for Russia is a small positive, and their spokesman today has spoken in favour of sovereignty and national boundaries. More chance of china having a word bringing peace than the likes of boris fucking johnson who has struggled to sanction oligarchs or the EU which still buy russian oil and has. Since when did fossil fuels and roman abramovic and his like become more valuable than millions of human lives. I do agree with DD’s comment about the chilling feedback from Macron.

Edit, having just read that China may be pulling coverage of this weekends PL games for fear of tv coverage of pro Ukraine demonstrations, then I have little confidence that china really gives a flying fuck about Ukrainian genocide

Not dissing ours , the gmtv one is in a bunker in the capital and goes up in the morning to give them a report ,mark austin also on itv , most of sky are on the border , most of bbc as well, the americans just seem to run straight to the danger area and are much more up on the subject , for several reasons they just explain better , also our channels are not live at night but they are so if you are following then as i have been then cnn is where you get live coverage from
