But I’m not sure his ear is for bending. One of the things I didn't mention was Putin's disgust for multilateral agreements, the EU, the United Nations and so on.

He's sees them as nothing more than a tool of the imperialist west to hobble Russian sovereignty and curtail her global and regional influence.
