Russian invasion of Ukraine

Another bragging lie uncovered

UK Transport Secretary Grant Shapps announced on Tuesday that the UK had become the first country to pass a law banning ships with "any Russian connection" from entering its ports.
Mr Lay said: "Sadly, this doesn't seem to be the case."
"The Department for Transport rules only appear to cover the ownership and operators of vessels, not the cargo."

Where is it to a lie to say we’ve banned any ship that is Russian flagged or Russian owned? To the rather tangent point about goods on board a vessel where do you propose/expect UK authorities to examine cargo to determine if it’s is banned or otherwise exactly? I mean a port would seem the logical place but maybe you think somewhere in the North Sea would work better? I dare say some would then complain we weren’t checking them prior to them entering UK waters although I imagine that might be piracy if we did it outside UK waters - but who cares so long as we can get a sly dig in at the Tories eh?

Your constant defence of them is touching

BBC pulling all there journalists out
Sounds like it’s getting very bad there if their safety is a real concern now.

In Russia.. There was a bit of confusion happening in real-time when the announcement of 15 years imprisonment for negatively talking about the war first came out… the Sky journalist is Moscow was confused and started talking to himself live on air about whether it meant them or not.

I guessed it would mean them too.

I doubt they were there for reconnaissance purposes, they were clearly operating as a pair, and there's plenty of other aircraft undertaking reconnaissance anyway. They'll be there for deterrence reasons I would think, just so the russians know they're nor far away "if required", I read they were flown into RAF Fairford in mid Feb, don't know where they are based at the moment though.

I do agree it’s a pretty visual show of force irrespective of what they were doing/carrying. The possibility of a miscalculation increases the more NATO hardware that arrives - and it’s arriving in droves.

Of Kyiv or Ukraine?

apologise, in Russia.

The BBC will ‘temporarily suspend’ the work of all its BBC News journalists and support staff in Russia after authorities passed legislation which director-general Tim Davie said appeared to ‘criminalise the process of independent journalism’.

‘Our BBC News service in Russian will continue to operate from outside Russia.

‘The safety of our staff is paramount and we are not prepared to expose them to the risk of criminal prosecution simply for doing their jobs. I’d like to pay tribute to all of them, for their bravery, determination and professionalism.

I am disgusted with our pathetic response. Accepting we cannot put soldiers in the ground, we (Europe) could at least stop buying russian and Belarus oil and gas, but as much as ever seems to be being sold. We could kick them all out of Swift but we’ve only kicked some out. We were going to supply war planes, then we didn’t. And so it goes on, just empty words of condemnation which putin laughs at. The lines of Abramovic, who made his money from being in bed with putin, is able to tout for sale a football club in our capital city. We in the west seem unable to make real sacrifices, whilst a country of 45 million people is being destroyed, it’s people massacred and displaced, but the west can’t cut off their gas and oil because it will cost more from elsewhere. So what price 10k, 100k, 1 million lives, what price a destroyed country? Apparently so long as it doesn’t cost or disrupt the west too much it is begrudgingly accepted. Absolutely fucking disgusting.

I agree and I can’t believe that next election here may not be until May 2024
