United (H) - Post Match Thread

It’s not a great surprise that our opponents struggle to cope with our movement. Was scratching my head yesterday when Kev popped up at left centre half, then two minutes later Bernie did the same trick! Second half was a truly fantastic team performance

Just watching the match back now on sky. Three observations:

1. Sancho not celebrating his goal. Respect? Or worried that by equalising he’d just succeeded in poking the bear?
First and foremost I loved that not only we beat them yesterday but completely embarrassed them to the point everyone looks like they’ve given up.

Regarding Sancho I always respect his career path, he got offered one of the biggest contracts we would have ever given anyone his age but he decided to leave for more playing time. That’s fair enough to me. He went to a team that means that decision was really why he left and showed that he is a good player. Now ok he’s gone to United but he could of easily gone to Chelsea or Liverpool if they had met Dortmund’s demands, he had got himself to that point in his career. Do I dislike him for it? No, it’s football. I do genuinely think he didn’t celebrate because he has respect for City.

Great result and all the team played well.

Sancho scored a great goal but did not do much besides. He would have to massively up his work rate if he played for Pep. I guess in his heart he has some regrets about leaving.
Our defence seemed to stand off Sancho to let him get his shot away.

Sancho’s goal was excellent. Don’t agree with the booing, I don’t consider him a former City player. He’s potentially a top player. He’s just gone to the wrong club.

2. Lingard and Rashford simply didn’t want to come on. Their body langauage on the touch line was shocking.

3. We love to see it.
He did celebrate ! Cocky little prick he is.

They might have done better if he'd been sent off, which I think he should have been.
I've been making that general point about Maguire for some time now... the favouritism and leniency that united receive really is doing them no favours as far as Maguire is concerned.

If he played for any other side he'd be picking up constant yellows and reds and having the resultant bans that come with them, so the club would have no choice but to find a replacement, but thanks to all the leniency he receives we get to witness the awesomeness that is Harry Maguire playing every single week.
