Just been listening to LBC , Shelagh Fogarty who I usually find quite measured about most of the topics she has on her show. She was giving it to the Chelsea fans on her show saying that they shouldn’t even be playing because bombs are dropping on maternity wards etc, and basically they should just suck it up etc.
Then she mentioned she was a ticket holder at Anfield and if her club was linked to dodgy stuff etc she would sack it off.
Oh the hypocrisy….
Wonder if she started following them before or after Heysel ?

agree sets a precedent what and who decides the parametres ?
Somewhat bizarre that the club can't continue to function just with all revenues remaining with the club and not passing to RA? Seems strange that the sanctions block things like new signings. Feels like an attempt to punish Chelsea.

Things will be okay for Chelsea. PL is global brand and having one of your top teams suffer will affect the brand negatively worldwide. It's also part of life in UK so Government will have time give relaxations ans they will give eventually
I don’t think that’s true.

The Premier League is about itself as an entity, the sheer amount of big clubs and potentially next big clubs, the different styles of football, and the competitiveness.

As much as United and Liverpool try and make it so, it’s not about individual clubs as global brands. The world doesn’t give a shit that this season could be the fifth time in eight years that United have finished outside the Top 4 or that Liverpool finished outside the Top 4 six years out of seven last decade and didn’t win the league for three decades… the Prem just gets on fine without them up there, just like it gets on without Sunderland, Sheffield Wednesday, Nottingham Forest and many other historically big and successful clubs at other times like City, Leeds, Villa and Newcastle, in the league altogether.

This is what makes English football the best!

English football doesn’t really have any clubs who are, far and away, out of reach of the rest of the pack when it comes to success. 20 league titles isn’t that many, in future decades there could be a few clubs up at that level, because it’s not overly dominant in the context of 134 years of league football. There aren't any clubs in England who have always been up at the top, always challenging, always winning something every few years. And I don’t think there ever will be. There are far too many decent clubs with decent potential for any club in England to just always be dominant like a Rangers/Celtic or Nacional/Peñarol situation where they’ve all won over 100 trophies each and always been the dominant clubs in Scotland and Uruguay.

England’s top clubs have always and will always be fluctuating, and nobody is missed when they’re not there.

Season ticket holders only, so staff at the club shop, catering, stewards etc are going to find themselves out of a job. Seems unfair on them.

You’d hope the players might cover that.
If City fans can't see the potential for this then they too are morons.

Some City fans totally buy into current war propaganda but there is no necessity to take this as a binary conflict beteeen the free world and a new Russian empire.

Look at British history. We are sanctioning foreign capital for its association with militarism? Ha-ha.

What are you on about??

They talk as if American owners aren't also involved in a regime that has committed war crimes.

I appreciate Russia/Ukraine hits closer to home being in Europe but it's starting to look really hypocritical especially the Standard Chartered crowd.

All that being said, Chelsea can get fucked.
This
You know how controls the press when nothing is mentioned re Americans and Liverpools Sponsors

It's easy for tribalism to come into this but this is quite bad and I hate to see politics come into football.

Not a good day.

Fuck em

Sorry but this is nonsense, the ties get closer all the time.

And it looks like we are going to be heavilly reliant on them for oil.
Plus City are owned by ourselves, the CFG. City aren’t owned by Sheikh Mansour.

Why are we supplying steel to make Russian tanks?
No, but our owners could be providing resources to another country hostile to the West in another conflict down the road.

Also Chelsea are barred from making new signings regardless of where the money is coming from, so I don't think self-sufficiency entirely eliminates this risk.

That being said, the UAE is trying to play nice with everyone internationally, so I sincerely doubt we'd wind up like Chelsea/RA.
