This says more about Tuchel than it does about Lukaku. Players tend to talk bollox and act like dicks, like any young person given excessive amounts of cash and adulation. Managers of yesteryear would just have a quiet word and that would be that. Tuchel has made this all about him, he’s also making it clear he would rather field a weakened team and probably lose than have his authority challenged.

I mean Pep dropped Foden and Grealish when they broke the rules. It's a pretty normal response I think.

Wait, Chelsea is the unprofessional party in all of this?
In this instance I think Chelsea are cutting off their nose to spite their face and by not playing Lukaku its giving the Scousers a tiny bit more advantage.
Maybe it would have been better to declare any form of action by Chelsea till after this game.
But action did need taking and I know Pep has/will have done the same.Just my take on it Vialli.

That's a fair take but it needed a response. It's just unlucky for Tuchel that the next game is Liverpool. Nobody would have said its a bad decision if the opponent wasn't Liverpool.

Yeah, I guess they could maybe have fudged it by announcing they would be looking into the issue next week.

From Pep to Mancini to Ferguson, top managers have always put their foot down when a star player misbehaved.
