Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

Spoke to someone very much on the inside earlier on today who said the stand extension will definitely go ahead.
Covid initially buggered any immediate plans up but once the arena is built it will go ahead.

dont shoot the messenger but the guy is on the inside of Citys goings ons
Can I double like your post please?

I wonder what will be in place of the Mercedes garage ??
Should be a decent pub/diner

Good luck with that. I have said elsewhere, I know of two pub companies (Heineken Star Pubs and Greedie King) who wanted to do new builds near the stadium. Council and police blocked them (Wetherspoons was rumoured to have tried too)
They prefer us all to be within the grounds of the stadium, and therefore the club's responsibility for drinking.

Is this a new building or just and update

Looks like a CFA building extension. City Studio? Is that the in-house TV company?

Googled it. Couldn't find anything. Has to be new, per the CGI.
I'll check the planning portal, if a planning application has recently been submitted? Don't think it has. City don't normally go public on things around the Campus until they are happy to do so. So they might be pissed off with RGB Facades - Linkedin for going public on this? But they've obtained the CGI and made it public.

Looking at this we have a lot to do re upgrading our stadium to an elite level and talk of Real Madrid's demise is complete and utter nonsense.

If you think we have problems...
My daughter took her rag boyfriend to a CL game earlier this season. It was his first visit to the Etihad and he couldn't believe how far ahead of old toilet it is

In terms of what? Where did he sit?
First thing was the width of the concourse, how well lit it was and the fact you could walk around it to other areas
When they got to their seats how much leg room there is and great views
They were in 242, second tier North stand east stand corner

Totally agree but they are not the standard bearers of quality on or off the pitch, lets be honest ;)

Spurs and now Real have shown we are falling behind, not sure our owner will want that to be the case for long.

Me and Rammyblues went to see the Stones at the Swamp before covid. We sat in that shit wooden stand named after that Sir bald headed twat. I'm 6' 2" and there was zero leg room not just for your legs but your arms, impossible to move without affecting the person sat either side of you, in front of you and behind. Fortunately when the Stones came onto the stage everyone stood up and it was a great gig. Horrible stand to watch a footie match from I bet though. What a shit hole, but it's never seen on the TV!!

I was in their East Stand at the same gig and what a gig that was with Richard Ashcroft as the warmup. Possibly my fave gig of all time and the weather was perfect for it.

At least I was in the top deck of the newish East Stand, but even so, compared to the Eithad, it's cramped on the concourse and the seats.

Have sat in the Pisscan stand too for the Rugby League, I'm not tall, but I think I developed deep vein thrombosis, couldn't believe the lack of leg room, narrow seats and the weirdest steps down to the seats, they vary from barely changing depth, to a 2 foot drop.

Old Toilet is a proper shithole.

You put a smiley, but you’re absolutely spot on. Apart from past success and size of fanbase, United, the actual club itself in the here-and-now aren’t, in any measure, the standard bearers of anything.

We should be looking to better the best out there. Spurs new stadium, Madrid and Barça’s developments of their own stadiums.

The Etihad is being left behind now, I think even the Allianz is being left behind.

Current PR noise is about the redevelopment of the Swamp. I cannot see City being behind the curve and are probably keeping their powder dry with the Arena already in hand.

Problem for the rags is money and the possiblity of over extending their finances so are likely to be trumped by our owners in any development of the Etihad.
