Crystal Palace (A) | Post Match Thread

poor overall tonight, too many missed chances by over complicating it.
Bernardo shocking by his standards tonight
Rodri off it
Laporte slows the game down too much
No subs used is mind boggling
Add to that it’s fucking painful watching us on sky, commentators are obsessed with bringing up Liverpool.

Viera has been offered congratulations twice in his post match interview by them, they nicked a point as we couldn’t finish ffs

If Arsenal weren't in such good form and Liverpool not in a downturn of their form I'd have agreed. As it is though, anyone who's been paying attention to both teams these past few weeks, will probably tell you don't count on Liverpool steam rolling them.
Feels at times that teams really show up
Against us and always seems to be their performance of the season against us. Liverpool will rock up on Wednesday and arsenal will roll over for a tummy tickle as Liverpool batter them.

Any proof we need Haaland for anyone tonight was it.

Maybe a handy point, but we had that many chances we should have been out of sight at half time. Not our night but still 4 points clear and I think Arsenal will get something out of the Liverpool game.

Still backing us to win the title, we were due a run of games where we'd drop points, as long as it's in our hands leading into the Liverpool game we'll be right.

For me, this one is on Pep for refusing to change things when it was obvious the setup was just not going to get us over the line (specifically Bernie, who you could tell was spent by the 75th minute, and Grealish, who was stunting our play today).

Can’t really blame the players as they didn’t play that badly (even Grealish), it just wasn’t working against a team that played for the draw.

I honestly don’t know why Pep moans about teams being made to play so many games and then regularly refuses to use his subs.

The game was screaming for Jesus to replace Grealish and Gundogan to replace Bernie, put Mahrez on the left, Kev on the right, and make them defend against the late runs and shots from the edge of the box for the last 20 minutes.

Not enough shots in the second half and not enough quality on the final ball or finish on too many occasions.

People criticising lack of substitutions but I don't think that was a game for Rap and no particular reason to think Gabby would have seen anymore of the ball than Foden up the middle.

Need to stay calm.
I think the argument against subs in games like this is, that we haven’t got anyone who will make a difference to come on off the bench, when teams set up to frustrate us and are getting it right.
Here’s where the argument for a striker really adds up. A target man that will take two of their back five to constantly keep an eye on. Maybe a big target man that we can change tactic for and start pumping accurate crosses in to.
Our front players can then get into the box easier for knock downs and rebounds etc. Someone to cause havoc in the six yard area when their defence plan looks so well rehearsed.

Basically a different option to shake things up when plan A isn’t working.
Not similar players from the bench and persist with a Plan A that isn’t working.

Alternatively teach our players to hit the target with the multiple chances we do make. Game would be over in the first half and we could make all the substitutions we like.

You know what, I’ve had a lousy 4 days health wise (don’t get me wrong better off than some others) but I am not down about a flipping draw for goodness sake. We WILL still win this title. So man up you moaners, or person up!!
WE ARE CITY, THE BEST TEAM IN THE LAND IN ALL THE WORLD . OK???
I’m isolating with COVID and am with you. The only thing that pissed me off tonight is rat boy and spit the dog. Disgusting tabloid journalism at best

Liverpool will be like rabid dogs with a house rabbit. They'll rip them to shreds.
Not so sure Gooners are an improved team but dippers having three forwards gives them a damn good chance of bagging a couple of goals. They will be inspired and see this as their big chance. I can’t see them dropping points.

Don’t do things easily. Going right to the wire this one I think

Bernardo sticks in that chance early on instead of trying to walk it in and we cruise to a 2-0 or 3-1
Bernardo and Cancelo really had off nights and Phil in the no 9 role is anonymous in too many games
Thought we played ok generally, one of those nights really.
Yes Foden is wasted in that role.

Asked if City could win tonight Carragher replied "I hope not". Don't ever recall any pundit making the same comment about any other team.
Sky’s coverage has turned into a pantomime and it’s practically unwatchable now.

Neville plays the know it all gobshite, Carragher the professional scouser, Keane the stooge etc, each with their own agenda. Souness apart, any attempt to provide interesting, impartial analysis has long since passed.

I dunno, the point at Southampton, then the loss against Spurs at home doesn’t seem to have done too much bar last weekend…

I think we need to hope they have their own wobble as I wouldn’t count on us winning out from here.
FA cup and the 2 Manchester trophies then eh?

1 point will be enough

This is all on Pep.
I don’t know how many times I’ve left him a voicemail telling him to listen to all the arsewi…….. erm Premier League managers in waiting on the Match Day and Post Match threads who know better , but does he listen ?

Lol.
Carragher has just said Mahrez outstanding.
He was hesitant and fucking rubbish.
Should have put the rebound from KDB woodwork shot the other side and not straight back at the keeper
Wasn’t it called as offside against DeBruyne? That was the third time Mahrez hit a goal attempt straight at the keeper.
