A little bit of research would show that they were looking to negotiate peace in Syria and to remove Russian troops from Syrian soil.
The point being, the main enemy, a very dangerous enemy is Iran. They are backed by Russia.
Just like our government talked to the IRA to get peace, the UAE are talking to Assad.

The UN have put together a meeting in two days time to try to sort out some humanitarian issues in Syria as the civil war has been going on for a decade and millions are at risk of dying due to infrastructure being destroyed. The UAE are part of that process on behalf of the Arab nations. They're not there to back Assad, they're there to try to keep people alive.
Argue against it all you want but the UN wants to keep people alive and the UAE are part of that

I know we are not State owned, you and other posters as well as the CAS verdict made that clear.
My issue is around the morality question and whether we are at risk as a club but also as a fan I do have the right to question the morality of our owners.

What did Mansour do that was immoral? No one knows what was discussed at the meeting so how can you question the morality of our owner ?
Why is it just the west that are allowed to meet bad guys ?

The simpletons in the media love the morality angle. But it doesn't hold up. Our royal family and politicians meet plenty of unsavoury people in the course of their duties and we've been responsible for unimaginable misery in places like Iraq & Libya.

How noble that some City fans have such admirable principles and such clean hands that they can berate our owner for the people he talks to. Of course, it can be of no importance that he is deputy PM of the UAE and that regional powers in the area include Iran and Syria and that the region has been unstable for the last 15 years at least and that Russia has played an increasingly prominent role there in recent years. Maybe the meeting was trying to bring greater stability to a troubled region. Such an objective can actually be achieved ONLY by meetings and negotiation. Perhaps the UAE expressed the view that they do not wish to see Syrian forces serving in the Ukraine. I understand that President Zelensky has been negotiating with Putin in an attempt to end the carnage. Surely we don't believe he's at fault for this! The fact is that if we wish to solve international problems we usually have to talk to people we don't like at all. Peace only came to Northern Ireland after intensive negotiations between our government and Irish republicans. They didn't like each other and they had to agree to some very controversial terms, but the carnage stopped. So, as one of the characters in Sartre's "Les Mains Sales" says, if you want to do good you have to put your arms in the shit up to your elbows."
