I was reading a report out from last week that suggests that currently if you are single in this country you are paying on average £630 per month (over £7500 annualy) additional (than if you were in a relationship). This is on bills/food/holidays etc.

The figures are unreal to be honest and what a penalty people are paying for being alone, many through no fault of their own. It's almost like people are being unfairly penalised, ok you get 25% council tax discount, shouldn't that be at least 50%?

It depends what you think council tax is for. Do you want streetlights dimming to 50% when you walk past? Half a Father Christmas on the town Hall? In any case, if you're on your own, you can live in a smaller house at a lower band.

I notice the words "fiscal discipline" are back in the political lexicon. Basically it means austerity, cuts and more cuts, tax breaks and tax cuts. The Tories are still living under the illusion that Laffer has credibility. Johnsons dreams of grandiose schemes may be hit and as inflation is now 6.2%, Sunak is hamstrung. He will want to cut taxes as that is what Tories wank over and he has his leadership ambitions to consider, so I can see this statement being a a mish mash of stupidity that will of course hot those who are worse off the most.

I am fucking sick to the back teeth of this pile of incompetent cunts running our country, we deserve better.

Same here. I think its fair to say the current mess is an absolute farce. I dont usually do politics but ffs rising inflation, russia-backed brexit, russian funding, Covid fuckups beyond any morals, an economy that is tanking, so so many trhings that are wrong yet this media in this country are managing to keep them in power.
