It's up to Chris Rock to file a report with the police first, which he hasn't done, and probably won't.

It's cheesy American celebrity hype... but it does make for good TV/publicity.

IMO, Smith has every right to slap the shit out of someone trying to bully his wife. Some comedians think they can say whatever they want with no repercussions. That's not how the real world works. By all means, say your jokes, but don't start crying when someone gives you a thick ear.

'LAPD investigative entities are aware of an incident between two individuals during the Academy Awards program,' the LAPD said in a press release after the show ended Sunday.

'The incident involved one individual slapping another. The individual involved has declined to file a police report. If the involved party desires a police report at a later date, LAPD will be available to complete an investigative report.'

Erm, no. Firstly you have to decide if a crime has been committed and the police might say no, the victim might say yes. As Smith hasn't been arrested to my knowledge then it's probably they deem it pointless (it was just a slap after all) but Rock can still file a report which means the police then should investigate.

I think the worse message is that he was just allowed to sit back down and get his award 5 minutes later.

If you're hosting an event and someone in the audience assaults a performer, you need to have security escort that person out of the event as a minimum. Especially when you've spent the last 5 years telling everyone that you don't accept any discrimination, harrassment or violence.

I just don't like Jada at all. Her and those kids have reduced will smith to a simpering mess. Don't get me wrong I stand up for strong women but she has taken everything a good man has provided for her and done nothing but complained, cheated and thrown it all back in his face. I'm sure he's not perfect either but she's embarrassed him so much over the years I think this is the reason he's snapped finally

He didn’t start crying he took it and let smith make himself look really stupid.

Rock could have nailed Smith with a few more one liners as he sat back down But chose not to.

Smith looks like one of those piss heads who can’t take a joke in a comedy club and then gets kicked out

Which is their bullshit excuse for not getting involved in a hollywood slapping fight, but it's not true that someone needs to press charges. How else do you think police would get around victim intimidation and domestic abuse etc?

I can't beleive in 2022 people still think video evidence from 30 cameras is not enough for the police to get involved.

I've had Alopecia since I was 14. Tormented at school, but you learn to roll with it. For women, I can imagine the effects of Alopecia are far more damaging.
