Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

Manchester United has appointed a team of leading consultants to begin work on creating a Masterplan for the redevelopment of Old Trafford.

The team will be led by Legends International and Populous, both of which have a wealth of stadium development experience from across the globe.

Work will begin immediately on developing options for Old Trafford and studying their feasibility, with the aim of significantly enhancing the fan experience.

Fans will be at the heart of the process, starting with a meeting between the consultants and the Manchester United Fans’ Advisory Board later this month.

A similar process is already under way in relation to the club’s training facilities, with KSS appointed to develop a Masterplan for an expanded, state-of-the-art facility for the Men’s, Women’s and Academy teams.

have they finally realised over at the swamp, they need to do something. You just have in the back of your mind, bet it all flops & goes way way over budget whilst recruiting the wrong people / investors that just take them for their money.... Bit like the football club over there !!

Dont care. Nothing they build will save them from the supermassive black hole they are disappearing into. Gravity always wins.

Will they try and get the rows of seats even closer together than they are at present?

Do City still own there old training facility and Plat Lane are there plans for either ?
Wasn't Platt lane handed over to the council when we took over the new stadium along with Maine Road? The previous training ground was being used by Bury (I think) but they couldn't afford the upkeep so they got turfed out? No idea what's happening with it now.

They know how far they are falling behind.

There are 3 training grounds in Carrington, we had one which Bury took over when we moved to The Etihad Campus. The scum have one which they still use. The other was used by Sale Sharks, which I believe is about to be taken over by Stockport County on a 3 year lease. From what I remember, we didn't own the Carrington ground but had it on a long term lease from Shell Petroleum, who own most of the land around there. That is why we got Bury involved, to cover some of the lease costs. I'm unsure what is happening there now. Update us when you drive by!

Stockport took over it from Bury.

I know we’re all thinking, I’ll believe when I see it, but I think the Glazers are serious this time about expanding Old Trafford and redeveloping Carrington.

When United look across the City and see the Etihad Campus they must feel embarrassed about Carrington. Redeveloping the training ground and bringing it up to a similar standard as ours, Liverpool’s, Chelsea’s, Spur’s, etc, should cost too much, around £50mill-£100mill.

As for Old Trafford, whatever they do the Glazers/United aren’t going to get much money back from £500mill-£1bill, depending on what their final proposal for Old Trafford is and how ambitious it is.

Taking the rivalry and piss-taking aside, it will be interesting to see what the final proposals are for Carrington and Old Trafford.

As for City, the sooner City start the North Stand expansion and the Collar Site proposal, the better. But I doubt that will happen until the Coop Live Arena is built and up and running, which is a couple of years away.

What collar site proposal? Think this thread needs a refresh to remind us of what the plans actually are! Cheers

The long rumoured entertainment centre proposed for the Collar Site. That could have been dropped by now? City are always looking at different proposals for the Etihad Campus. The Manchester University Institute Of Sport, that was never built, being just 1 example.
