CFG Expansion | Başakşehir to join? (p70)

For me the bottom line is that CFG are our owners and I think to be owned by a British company whose business is football is better than to be owned by:
An American sports corporation whose objective is profit.
An on line bookie.
A Russian oligarch.
Mike Ashley.
etc. etc.

Would make sense to own an Italian team but think it might be hard. Too big and historic to rebrand to big not to have them playing in blue with a circle badge they would not fit with the other clubs in the CFG in terms of reasons for ownership and badge

How’s our takeover of NEC Breda going? Haven’t heard anything since NEC announced they’d agreed a deal with CFG.

Currently sitting in Seria C, but i think the brand they have will be kept and not overwritten. They havent really changed a club to fit the system since Torque. All have kept the traditional kits/logos since.

For what I heard the CFG are not planning on rebranding EC Bahia in Brazil as well, and they're saying it will be the second most important club in the group only behind Manchester City... Maybe that's the way they'll do it from now on.

Didn’t think that had gone through

I think it depends on the club Do they have a preexisting history are they a youth development club or key to brand CFG

CFG going after three clubs right now. EC Bahia (Brazil), Palermo (Italy) and NEC Breda (Netherlands). All would be very good and welcome additions to the group.

All three would be amazing. Palermo’s a fallen giant with some great players in their past, Dutch clubs are very good for loaning promising players and raising their value (Chelsea with Vitesse, Angelino at NAC/PSV), and 1 Brazilian wonderkid like Vinicius, Jesus or Neymar would pay for itself.

NYCFC won the title last season and football will grow massively after the World Cup. Really exciting to see where we’ll be in the future.

A British company?
CFG is a British Company, subject to uk rules and taxation. Quite different from eg tax haven US Corps.
With more than 75%, Mansour could change that, but he won’t.
The nationality of shareholders is not relevant, it is the place of domicile that counts. See Shell, BP, subsidiaries of British companies now registered in the EU and, say, hedge funds which are British owned but registered in Switzerland.
Edit PS. It occurs to me that, since CFG is British, if UEFA ever tried anything on with them, they would have English law to deal with!

Reports are saying that Bahia would be the second biggest club in the group too. After City, of course.
