I’m well aware. Me saying it’s boring and asking for it to fuck off to the politics forum does not mean I don’t agree with you. That was exactly the point that some of us were making.

Fair enough. I'm a bit tetchy this morning.I’m well aware. Me saying it’s boring and asking for it to fuck off to the politics forum does not mean I don’t agree with you.
I bet that's a call you won't forget in a hurry. Puts our problems into context when you see people literally fighting for their lives and freedom from tyranny.I talked on Facetime to a Ukrainian Soldier in a school hall with his gun yesterday morning. He was in tears, banging his heart and saying that he and the other soldiers were "like brothers". He didn't have the English but the intimation was they would fight to the death.
What do you say in that situation? "Hope you kill some Russians"?, "Hope you don't die"?
Come on Ukraine.
Yes you're probably right. If it’s a discussion about the EU response then I think that’s fine. The last few pages have been about Germany though and conflating that with the EU. I’d say that is more for the political thread as it’s back to misunderstanding domestic vs eu accountability.
Think this might end for them the way it did for the defenders of Masada. Just wish they could take a few of the Russian fuckers with them as surviving or breaking out of there seems nigh impossible.See Putin has declared they won’t try and take the steelworks in Mariupol now, will “just” blockade it instead and I guess wait for the Ukrainians to run out of food and water. Fingers crossed they can resupply them and somehow attack the ruSSians blockading them.

He said it is so tight not even a fly can get out so he is starving them to death , hopefully we can get some weapons help to take on the russians and free them but i am scared for all of those in there , women and kids and the old with the soldiers , putin is evil and the new hitlerSee Putin has declared they won’t try and take the steelworks in Mariupol now, will “just” blockade it instead and I guess wait for the Ukrainians to run out of food and water. Can’t be less deadly if they starve to death the Ukrainians know they will be killed if they leave those positions. Only way it’s less deadly if for the Russians. The steelworks is a labrinth of underground tunnels and bunkers that will be booby trapped to high heaven and full of ambush points so they'd probably lose a ton of men trying to take it.
Starving them out is sensible and hopefully less deadly for everyone.

That is a view if you support the Russians. Why wouldn't you want the Russians not to lose fighters in a war? They won't back down until they are forced toThe steelworks is a labrinth of underground tunnels and bunkers that will be booby trapped to high heaven and full of ambush points so they'd probably lose a ton of men trying to take it.

I think the point was that it would result in the death of less humans overall? I do sometimes think (social medias fault) that we end up supporting 'sides' a bit like we pick a football team to support. Not suggesting anyone should be pro Russia, but it seems that war is a comfy spectator sport for those of us at a safe distance. That is a view if you support the Russians. A full on assault will end up with a lot of dead Ukrainians civilian and military.I think the point was that it would result in the death of less humans overall? It wouldn't get anywhere near there, given its on the Sea of Azov, and would have to sail under a russian bridge on the kerch straight which connects 2 bits of russian territory, and is only a few miles wide.Wonder what the Ruskies would do if a NATO warship sailed into the black Sea and tied up at the jetty at the Steelworks
Loads of soldiers have surrendered in Mariupol and are fine including the 2 brits and hundreds that have already been exchanged back to Ukraine. The marines may say they feel they can’t suddenly but it’s not actually true, Russia isn’t going to execute 1500 of them.
They can choose to hold out and hope for a breakthrough or they can surrender but it’s in their hands, which it wouldn’t be if Russia launched a full on offensive.
