Remember the last big football governance report produced by the Commons Sport Select Committee in 2011. It was totally undermined by a leak to the media of its draft report and a subsequent inquiry (see the first link) went into the long grass. Rick Parry was used as a "specialist adviser" on this governance report and declared an interest (see the last par of the second link) that he was still on the LFC payroll (part of his termination deal) and his son worked at Manchester City in the Sports Science team. Probably just a co-incidence.

So the hackers were at it as long ago as that?

Parry went on to have a glittering career which included working as a "consultant" for the Qatar regime on their World Cup bid and then becoming a key member of the Investigatory Chamber of UEFA's Financial Fair Play Board, especially during their investigation into the finances of MCFC. You may recall that was another body which was compromised by leaks from within its close-knit circle. Still nothing to see here let's move on.
Before moving to the EFL just in time to provide institutional support for the redshirts’ “Project Big Picture” attempted power grab. Transparently corrupt little goblin

While I share your thoughts on VAR - it's complete shite and the operators of it are clueless - the Gabby pen wasn't forensically looked at. VAR, for once, made it's mind up very quickly and within one look at the replay said it's a penalty. The issue and the big delay was because Kevin Friend couldn't hear VAR telling him the check was over and to award the pen. Hilariously, the commentators on the channel I was watching knew the outcome - they could hear VAR saying it's a pen but the ref couldn't! The commentator actually said maybe he should run on the pitch and tell him! Total shambles really.
For us plebs at the match there was a huge delay, 3 minutes ? If it was just comms, as your commentator said, someone could have run on or it could have been put on the big screen. Yet again the match going fan was ignored. We then had another delay immediately after without a clue what was happening. 5 minutes of total bemusement coupled with anger. Thanks pigmob.

I listened to Thursday’s BT Sport podcast earlier.

They’re already talking about reforming the league to have a knockout-style playoff series for the title.

The trigger?

“City could sign Haaland and win the next 10 titles.”

Of course, the next episode is titled “Is history beckoning Liverpool?”

So fucking transparent. Most outlets, including the PL itself, no longer even trying to hide it. Not a modicum of neutrality anymore.

This media narrative about 2 great teams battling each other.

I suppose there are 2 incredible teams in this league. One has won 8 trophies, reached a UCL final, is leading the premier league again, won an unprecedented domestic treble and also back to back PLs and one has won 3 trophies, including a final against European giants Tottenham.

There's also 2 incredible Beatles left alive, one wrote Yesterday, Let it be and Hey Jude, the other one was the voice of Thomas the Tank Engine.

I was at Etihad Stadium on Saturday when Raheem Sterling blasted a good chance over against Watford. You should have heard how many fans around me were groaning and shouting 'useless' or 'get him off'.

A good chance ? It was an absolute sitter and as usual his technique wasn't good enough.

Yes it was a sitter and a point I made previously was that with his talent and experience he’s really got to at least get it on target because every game is a must win for us and chances need to be taken.
However at 3-1 up after some lovely football, to be shouting “useless , get him off” sounds like a cretin. That’s not a natural reaction at 3-1 up.
Anyway, it’s not a bad article in my view but not sure why it is aired on the eve of a crucial CL game?
Similar with the press conference with Raheem today. What a bunch of fucking nasty wankers asking shite questions about new contracts, leaving, not always playing regularly - on the eve of a massive CL game.
The dippers really ate treated differently both off and on the pitch - they might have asked one question like this to Salah but not the whole bloody conference.

I agree with some of what you say. Up to missing that chance I was impressed with Raheem's performance. He'd been running with purpose, holding it up well and causing them a lot of problems. However that miss is fairly typical of his level of finishing over the last 2 seasons. What if that chance had been at 0-0 ? Or had been on 88 minutes when we desperately needed a goal when we were drawing ? He does offer more than just goals, I get that - but that chance was on a plate (from Jesus's assist) and he blazed it way over.

This is from BBC today …..

“Earlier this season PGMOL apologised to Everton after they were denied a penalty in their 1-0 defeat by Manchester City despite midfielder Rodri appearing to use his hand to control the ball.”

Tell a lie often enough and it becomes the truth.
I noticed the use of the word ‘hand’ too.
No excuse for that. It is either lazy writing or blatantly biased or both.

Maybe this is me being a bit pedantic but has anyone else noticed that when a city story concerns Pep, the story is usually accompanied with a picture of Pep with his hands on his head. Sky website the latest ones , not done with any intention of demeaning his achievements though, no way
