Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

No emails come to us in 201. Think we're safe till North Stand Extension is built
Sorry for the confusion, this new sports bar covers blocks 204 and certain seats in 202, you are ok for now but it will happen to everyone who sit in padded seats in the future ?.

It was interesting to see all the empty seats in the corporate and highly priced areas of the ground last night, I do think the club is going in the wrong direction off the pitch, so many people have already been moved and there is more to come, In all the years I have supported City I have never felt more detached, years ago you felt part of a family and wanted, now that's gone. The fans supported this club through some bad times, and today we cannot fill the ground because so many fans feel detached and are being priced out. The north stand extension is on hold because of empty seats, well the club need a reality check, our fan base is mainly from the greater Manchester area, and most don't have the income to pay the price of a ticket, when I first went to a football match at City 1964, I went with my two brothers my dad uncle and cousin, so two adults and 4 kids, today most families couldn't afford to do that as it would cost a small fortune, and we went to all the home games. Yes the club have introduced cheaper tickets, but they are at the back of the south stand where older fans don't want to tread, as it would probably kill them getting up to the back. The club today make vast amounts on TV rights, sponsorship and advertising etc, the income from match day ticket sales is relatively low, but they are squeezing the average fan out of the game, surely the club can see by reducing prices and making the ground more accessible in all areas, not this march to corporate etc, they will fill the ground and create a better environment, fan experience, and a missing atmosphere, everything Manchester City and their fans are yearning for ?.

The club need to wake up, this march to corporate seating etc is killing the club, change direction off the pitch, get the ground pumping again, and the ETIHAD will completely change for the better.

So I've been back and had a look at what was declared in the Planning Application back in 2013 (nine years ago) which included an option to expand both ends - the original plan saw the concourse behind 201/202/203 be sliced in half and a new 'Corporate Facilities Refurbished' section, which I assume, is what they're going to do behind 201/202/203 now - see picture. Of course back then the remainder of the 'padded seats' area (201) would have been been given access to a new bar area in the North Stand Extension (akin to 93:20 on the opposite corner) - as this is not happening (at least not yet), we are going to lose out in 201 because we will lose the concourse area behind us and have to tramp around the existing bars in the North Stand...

Footnote - for some reason I tagged this shot as 911 Club - can't remember whether that was an official name from those nine year old plans.

The internet has made it possible to gauge support and interest as never before. My guess is the likes of the rags are very worried as will be their sponsors. City will be selling facts and forecasts to sponsors.

Looking ahead City through CFG, may be looking at a Real Madrid scale ground improvements based on projections rather than a Liverpool piecemeal style upgrade. The arena is part of the development that seems designed to make the Etihad, collar site and environs a major visitor destination.

They need to do this surely.. it would be glorious. All the investment into the PL needs to pay off infrastructurely big as well. And just do a larger upper tier adaptation on the north stand etc, I dont think a Dortmund style tier would be that great there really. Safe Standing there.

Surely you can do these upper tiers, east, west (as steep as possible..) in order after you do the north one and keep playing there with all the new technique they got for stadium building nowadays.

It will cost a pretty penny..
Maybe they got all these big plans after the indoor stadium is up though. Communications etc.
edit: probably taken from this thread earlier a few years back or so. e2:added 2. new people might not want to go back that far in the thread perhaps.

Will be interesting to see what the new FFP rules or whatever the replacement is called has on Stadium development.

Infrastructure costs used to be excluded so you could basically pump money in, not sure if that will be the case with new rules.

Expansion of Corporate hits everyone, when we receive away, semi-final, and final tickets, the Corporate ticket holders will get first take, before any other fan, even someone on 25,000 points plus. So the more Corporate areas built, the less ticket availability, can you imagine, 20,000 tickets for a European Final, and 10,000 going to staff and Corporate ?. Don't get me wrong there are a lot of wealthy City fans who can afford Corporate, but more and more of these tickets will go to companies who will give tickets to whoever, what I would call a plastic fan ?, someone who does not care about our Club, you should all be against these moves, I understand the club wanting to increase revenue, but this is not the way, build the south stand and price accordingly, no more Corporate.

Agree with this however I think you meant build the North Stand, we need an end of our own priced for the ordinary City die hards, I know absolutely loads of blues that would return because of the affordability....make it happen please I'm nearly 62 and have longed for the day we can have one end of the stadium to ourselves, you watch the change in atmosphere when that happens, CTID

Its percentage based so unless they change how they sell away tickets adding more corporate wont change the amount of tickets available to those in the 'cheap' seats.

I do too. Build us a proper stand at decent prices and it would be full.

You only have to see how many tickets we shift at short notice when away fans return Level 3, or Level 2 and 3, tickets that are priced to us at £30. Back when we opened SSL3, there were supposedly 10,000 applicants for the £250 season tickets.

Price long term season tickets at £300 in a standing stand that holds 15,000 and we’d sell it no problem.

I’d much rather have it along the side of the pitch like the Kippax was, miles better than behind the goal, but if we can only have it behind the goal then I’m all for it because not having a stand for vocal fans at all in the stadium is fucking shit.

I’d move to a proper stand and know loads who’d come back to support.

There's a place for corporate and a place for the likes of me and thousands like me, the correct balance is needed obviously, a lot of people may have to give up thier seat perhaps but surely the common aim is to get it right, and everyone would need to contribute towards this aim to make the difference.

East and West stand expansion would be a huge undertaking probably would mean playing elsewhere for a season

Soriano dislikes this post.

Looks EPIC! Would need to sort the shorty looking corners out though? Absolute eyesore!

Yeah all of that would have to be sorted obviously, it would be some sort of staggered approach like at the Spurs stadium.. with the side stands sticking out more than the goal side monolithic stand.

Much easier to do from the start though..
