Erling Haaland

Never done until it’s signed and we would have heard if we had paid the money dortmund would be shouting about it
It is heavily reported that personal fees are all agreed. If the only remaining factor left is the release clause then that is not going to be an issue. I believe all aspects are agreed and it's all about timing that suits all parties

If I was a betting man, I would say we will hear confirmation once next weeks match against Real Madrid is completed or very soon after.

A lot probably depends on if Dortmund want to have their own replacement deal(s) ready to offset Haaland leaving

As for City we probably want to see how the remaining matches play out in the league

Does anyone well informed know why we're yet to pay the release clause? If that's the only obstacle remaining why don't we just get the money down?

Fuck me has playdoh head been on the gear?

Has it kicked in yet, it would seem odd if somebody could trigger a release before the German season ends.
I disagree, in order for them to advance plan they’d want it sorted earlier, just so he couldn’t fuck them about. My guess is we’ve already paid it and they are getting their incomings boxed off.

If as we hear the buy out clause has to be activated by 30th April then i would expect some clarification from Dortmund in the next few days.

They may want to know his intentions, but having it kicking in before the season ends would mean a club could trigger it and refuse to let him play for Dortmund at the back end of a season when they could have been challenging for trophies. That seems daft to me.

Nah, they still wouldn’t have his registration, it would just be sat in escrow.

Mixed opinions on that. Some say the clause itself by the end of the month others say it’s that Harland just has to confirm he is not staying at Dortmund.

The date is significant but how significant is not known.

You would think something would come out on Saturday even if it is a shed load of speculation like we have yet to see.

I'm guessing here.....His contract won't end with Dortmund till June 30th,so I'm thinking it could be activated and something signed to say,as of July 1st he would be an employee of Manchester City.
We then pay him from that date,as Dortmund stop paying.
Is that right?

I don't really know, think we are all guessing. My guess is when the clause is triggered then contracts would need to be signed then surely the club buying would be wary of any injuries still playing for Dortmund and would prevent him playing, because as I understand unlike Spain where the player pays a release, here the buying club pay the transfer. From Dortmunds POV why would they want that distraction if they had been challenging for trophies. That's just my guess.

But surely he can't sign a contract with City until his contract with Dortmund expires?
That's why I'm asking, can summat be signed to say "as of 1st July"?
If not, then surely we have not triggered it and not paid fuck all?

His contract doesn’t end with Dortmund until 30th June 2024, so this isn’t like a free transfer situation where his registration transfers over at the expiry of his contract at the end of June.

We’re agreeing a transfer with Dortmund, which can be agreed at any time, and his registration can transfer over to us as soon as the Transfer window opens. Like with Torres in January, where Barcelona negotiated the deal with us in December to transfer over on 1st Jan.

His deal with Dortmund has a release clause for this summer, which means as soon as it’s triggered, they have to put the offer to the player - and if he accepts, they have to agree at the set price.

That’s the theory. The reality is a club will only trigger the clause once they’ve already agreed a deal with the player.

Where the ambiguity comes in is when the deadline for the clause to be triggered kicks in. Is it at the end of the summer window, or the end of June - or the end of April, as some are saying?

I don’t think anyone knows for sure.

I don't think a contract with us could be done yet, no,Maybe a pre contract agreement with the players reps I guess could be signed like you say I suppose that could be already done. The actual triggering and paying the fee I can't see .

Ta.....I was thinking that when a release clause is triggered, the players current contract would be terminated at midnight 30th June.
