It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

We can and should still win the PL, but even if we do we need to refresh the squad.

Out-
Sterling
Dinho
Zin
Gundogan- one of my favourites but he is not the player he use to be, we can do better.
Mahrez-If he is not willing to extend his contract

In-
Haaland
Alvarez
De Jong/ Bellingham
Nkunku
LEFT BACK!
We need quite a big revamp this next season, get 2 new or promote the youth in the full back areas. Promote and play Palmer.
Sell Gundo he's been great but past his best.

Recruitment needs to find the players that will settle in easily. Someone like Nkunku I don’t think would take a season. Like I said before, we can’t be afraid of squad refreshment when it’s badly needed. I don’t know how many other signs are needed
But again Nkuku is not a winger, kind of second striker and I think not fast enough.

I didn’t say to sign him as a winger
So, Haaland, Alvarez and then Nkuku? If we sold Sterling and Jesus, we need a winger more than another striker. I wanted to pick your brain about Anthony from Ajax and Abner vinicious as LB. What do you think about them?

Anthony is 100% yes. Guy’s a killer. Abner is a guy I like here, but I watched his team lose on Tuesday 5-0. Isn’t ready for a top PL team

I see there was panic in the disco last night on this thread. Lots of knee jerk reactions and a virtual wipe out of our entire squad....
Our team has been running on empty for a while now. No striker or recognised LB. Yet still we are in the fight for the league. Injuries to Diaz, Stones and Walker in the run-in have hit us hard and highlights our small squad deficiencies including carrying the likes of Grealish. But, next season we have already started to change the age profile with Alvarez and Haaland.
For me, Frenkie covers Fern and maybe Gundog or Silva if they leave. This leaves LB which is a specialist position, not a make do.
Any attackers leaving is already covered by incomings and youngsters ..

Our first 11 is magnificent but we also have major weaknesses, imbalances in the squad.

Midfield is in need of a refresh with few options and players getting older, we need some legs and athleticism there, long term Walker replacement/ back up.

It's time to get good money for Sterling, Jesus, Zin, Gundo and maybe Laporte. Get Haaland in, Gundo in part ex for Bellingham. Adding Alvarez is now a must. Then a dynamic left back is the missing piece of the puzzle.
We have to integrate Palmer more too.

IN top quality striker(hopefully Haaland). If Leeds drop I'd go after Phillips to replace fernandinho, and a solid left back that we've needed for 8 years!

OUT Sterling, Jesus( Love the kids work rate, but not the finisher we need.) Fernandinho(legend but the time has come). And the last one I will get slated for but, Cancelo if we got good money I'd let him go. Just feel he is either outrageously good, or equally outrageously poor.

We need to buy the best there is at LB that's either Davies, or Hernandez, or both.
I feel we need to blood some of our RB.

IN: Alvarez, Striker (whoever), Kamara(free from Marseille), Fullback (doesnt have to be a leftback, so Porro or Raum). If anyone leaves, they'd need replacing. Gundogan, Bellingham, Jesus and Sterling, Leao, Laporte, Pau Torres.

OUT: Fernandinho, Mendy (obviously), Ferran (ofc), guaranteed.
Probably, Jesus, Sterling or Mahrez, Laporte and Gundogan.

Theres a guaranteed need for 4 in, while 3 are guaranteed out.

Our front three needs a complete refresh. This will be the first time in Peps career this season that a pep team has not had the best attack in the league via goals scored and expected goals. We are top of the league due to 8 players in our team who pop up with goals, mostly from midfield.

I think Mahrez is our highest scorer he's having his best season in front of goal and then it's KDB.

Sterling has been brilliant for us but he has to go. I thought his loss of form was temporary but its continued for a while.

Jesus is a very good at pressuring defenders and his work ethic is excellent but he needs 4 to 5 opportunities to score I'm sure there's another attacker that can be brought in who can do what Jesus does but is lethal in front of goal.

Mahrez is our best attacker this season but with his age and this being his best season in front of goal who knows if he's going to drop next season. Intergrate Palmer kid can finish that's one thing that needs to happen,

but we need new attackers, I'm sick of having of that feeling of when one of our three are through on goal is this the chance where they score or do they miss again like you second guess it.

Dippers don't have that even Tottenham don't Kane, Son and the guy they signed from Juve have a better conversion rate than our attackers. We have one of the worst conversion rates in the Premier league which shocked me.

Haaland changes it but there's only so much he can do.

I'm starting to think our recruitment team is incompetent. I'm not a moaner or some flip flop plastic who will complain about everything, but the last 2 summers have been shocking. There's so many gaps in the squad that just haven't been filled e.g. Aguero, Sane, Silva, LB. Don't like to talk too much trash about the people at higher levels as I'd like to think they try to act in the club's best interests, but at what point do we start to feel like they're not doing it the right way?

We do need a small shake up in terms of personal. I don't think the board have been doing well in replacing players when they leave or get sold. I also think the squad depth isn't that good either. I know Pep said he doesn't like a big squad as he doesn't like like players out but I think it's needed. The competition drives players to try harder as they know there is someone looking at the place in the team. Most of our bench is made up of our youth players which Pep rarely uses. Compare our bench with the scousers or Madrids last night.

After last night ive sat and though about things. For me next season i want pep resigned. But i want the stones x dias partnership in central defence. I just feel as theres no chemistry between dias and laporte and i feel as though laporte hasnt taken to dias and i feel like that will get worse especially if potentially dias becomes captain. I also hope to see a like for like walker rb who could eventually take first spot or even just rotate so not to overuse walker. i feel cancelo is better at left back. we obviously need a cdm to replace ferna. Id like to see gundo replaced as i feel though he isnt it in that midfield no more seems to have lost a yard and can no longer do his defensive duties throughout at 90 min period. If marhez jesus and sterling leave id like replacements for at least 2. I kind of feel like we need a 2017 summer we havent had one like that for a while.

Gonna be an exciting summer. I’m sure Khaldoon sitting there in the Bernabeau last night watching us bring on a 37 year old midfielder to close the game out will light a fire under the hierarchy.
Hopefully your right but we didn’t address Aguero leaving and replacing him should have been already set in motion before he left,a few other positions as well need addressed but up top was a huge priority,we’ve went from 4 strikers under Mancini to technically none,absolutely.. shocking

Except this team with none is better than the Mancini team with 4 and has scored just about as many as liverpool , so the number of strikers isn't comparable with what Mancini had. We will get a striker but the right one not any old one.

If the rumors about Gundo`s back is true and he could either leave/retire this summer, Frenkie would be perfect, he could replace both him and Dinho. Raz-Frenkie swap would make a lot of sense. Would expect a left-footed LB with good crossing coming in to accommodate Haaland

Ederson, Bazunu/Steffen
Walker, Cancelo
Stones, Dias, Laporte, Ake
Zinchenko, Gomez/Wijndal/Hickey
Rodri, Frenkie
KDB, Bernardo, Grealish (Frenkie)
Mahrez, Palmer
Haaland, Alvarez
Foden, Nkunku
