Injury Updates

Just really awful luck. We've got 4 really good centre-backs and they all have their flaws and some work better together than others, but for any given game I'm not particularly worried which 2 of the 4 are playing. I might have my preferences but I trust them all to do a job.

So finding ourselves facing the end of the season with only 1 of them fully fit is a bitter pill to swallow.

We know John was rushed back as a result of the injury to Kyle, but I wonder to what extent Ruben also had to come back quicker than his body needed. Can't even blame the squad size for this one as 4 CBs should be plenty. It's just terrible timing that the injuries have coincided like this.

We'll miss Kyle too of course, but I feel relatively comfortable with Cancelo and Zinchenko as our fullbacks against the remaining opponents.

I bet pep not had a settle back 4 for a good run of games since he's been here

And as Shearer just said on MOTD -they've got a 40m central defender on the bench -Ake.
Ps As regards Wednesday Wolves also have two key players out for the season

I suspect much of the coverage will be like Shearer's on MOTD2, that being "well they've got a 40m defender sat on the bench in Ake sooo". And yet when VVD was out for the dippers it was a caveat to every match report/ analysis.

I mentioned Shearer's Ake comment and I believe it is a fair one.
But you are right about the VVD 'excuse' last season used by the 'istree' cultists.
