I think this a valid concern and we will see.

That said, I think we could do with "a whole new style of play" to mix things up a bit sometimes. Seem to me we're vulnerable to two types of opponents as it stands:

(a) Those who park the bus for 90 minutes, allowing us 20 fruitless attempts and half-attempts on their goal, but who then break and score with their only chance; and
(b) Those who press and harry and chase and are basically all over us, stopping us from playing.

Certainly for (b) hoofing it forward to our big and lethal no. 9 is a great remedy. And for (a) if he can convert any of our half-chances, it can only help.
Agreed but option b is too tough now... centre halves are so much better now in terms of athleticism. A ball hit 60 yards in the air.. they can get across and win it. Tgey atr facing the play after all. Haaland looks great with the ball at his feet. I wouldnt be surprised if he ends up playing a hybrid role false nine ish..to trad CF which in the modern game would be wise. This idea that we are going to have a jeff astle, bob latchford or even shearer type CF seems a stretch to me. I still think three years of a proven Kayne...who is excellent i think would have suited us better. Time will tell

The hurt, envy, excuses, anger, and bitterness is flowing out of every single RAG.

Surely they must know that City's books, sponsorship deals, revenues, transfers, player wages, etc are checked by UEFA and the PL every season? So where they think this bottomless pot of money in Abu Dhabi is 'still', is anyone's guess.

Red Cafe.

If 51 + 35 is being reported, feck knows what dodgy as feck City deals have done because miles bigger clubs like Madrid could easily match that.

It’ll be 51 + 35 on the books, a dodgy as feck 30m off the books for his old fella, another massive Abu Dhabi sponsor payment system signing on fee for the player himself. Oh, and let’s not forget the usual Man City double wage system.

Put it this way, it’ll be a deal no other team (PSG or Newcastle aside) could possibly match, hence why they aren’t. But as always with City it’s about optics, I’ve no doubt they are paying more than they would have for Kane, but they can shout about this 51m deal and pretend they play to the same rule book as everyone else. It’s tailor made for them, some may even say Raiola knew exactly what he was doing when he arranged that Dortmund deal

Where does this 'double wage' thing come from? I know it's bullshit, but it's not the first time I've heard Rags and Dippers going on about it. Must have started somewhere.

The reading on Sad Cafe has taken on a whole new level of enjoyment this season.
Not many people on here will know this but when Bernardo signed for us, the meltdown from some posters on Red Cafe was so bad that the site owners somewhat amusingly sent a PM to every member of the forum basically asking the flappers to calm the fuck down! It went along the lines of "We can understand people are disappointed but try not to get too despondent as we still have a full summer ahead and United might make some exciting signings too". I can't remember the exact wording of the message but being a member I was lucky enough to get a PM!
