Last game of the 2003/04 season against Everton we wore the new home kit.
The season after we wore the new away kit in the last home game against Middlesbrough for some reason.
I don’t remember any after that, but I might be wrong.

19/20 as well. We wore the cracked glass shirt vs Watford IIRC.

They do it so that all of the photographs of the players (hopefully winning and lifting the trophy) will last throughout next season and make the perfect POS branding for selling kits.

It's also the best PR a new kit can receive in addition to big players joining.

I'll never forget that stupid away kit we wore against Middlesbrough at home. Surely one of the worst we have had in modern memory. The shenanigans of the game that day probably don't help my memory either to be honest!
