Raheem Sterling | Joins Chelsea for £50m

he has the skills, my only concern is how quiet he seems personality wise on the pitch. I suspect its just youth and nothing more.
Definitely a youth thing. He is a dominating presence in the EDS side and will grow in confidence to do the same in the first team.

He's a huge talent.

I dont know if there is any signifance in the two players being talked about for moves away (Sterling and Jesus) missed the parade yesterday “for family reasons”.

I would really hate to see Jesus go but with Haaland and Alvarez coming in I can see why he would.

I’m less bothered about Sterling. I’ve never really been a fan and I actually think he’s been poor for a couple of seasons. Flashes of brilliance, like his run and cross for the first goal on Sunday demonstrate his ability. He just doesn’t do enough of it for me. If another Club has £50m burning a hole in their pocket I’d say we cash in and buy a left back with the money.

I think some forget we have Palmer on his way into the squad, class player who imo is ready.
In his development, Foden went from playing 5 games to around 14 games and then 21 games to 28 games. Of course, he’s an exceptional talent and Palmer was already behind him in development, but I would imagine that the trajectory will be similar. So, if he stays fit, I can see him with around 15 games next year and then more once Mahrez departs.

I am so glad that I'm not the kind of absolute tosser who posts shit like "his heart is not at City" because a player misses a trophy parade because of a family emergency.

You do have to wonder what the fuck is wrong with these posters?

He just sparked a comeback to win his 4th league title - Guardiola said himself he didn't believe until the first goal that Sterling creates out of fuck all. He's the club's 10th highest goalscorer in history and one of the most decorated players we've ever had.

When are you lot going to give him the benefit of the doubt? How many goals and trophies does he have to get for this club before his goal celebrations aren't micro-analysed?
Might be wrong, but I think he’s also the outfield player with the most appearances under Guardiola.

I think Raz gets into some incredible positions but misses some sitters, too many imo. So I won't be too disappointed if he does leave as long as we get top dollar. Is that OK to say. Just checking. ;-)

You won’t find any posts on here from me criticising Raz, not one. I called it as I see it, he hardly acknowledged the crowd at the Trophy celebration and maybe it was a family problem that stopped him attending last night but he’s missed one before.

That’s very insulting calling me a tosser even though you did it indirectly. You don’t know me but I called you out over your (incorrect) superior knowledge of Ragnick when you claimed he was the second coming, I don’t think you’ve got over that.

Just for the record, I’ve always supported Raz, always will, he’s a great lad who’s put up with all kinds of shit but it’s obvious he wants to move on.

Na, you’ll be name checked as a tosser by know it all Domalimo.

I didn't even know we'd interacted before. I called you out because you said something fucking stupid, and I find it more than a little grating that 2 days after sparking a league winning comeback, people are trying to microanalyse the emotions of someone they don't know to justify why they want them to leave the club.

You don't have a clue whats going on behind the scenes, so like I said how about giving our longest serving player the benefit of the doubt instead of spouting shite about his "heart not being in it"?

The way I look at it, since the takeover how many players have we "lost" who we would have wanted to keep, honestly not that many.... Garcia/Sane/Milner/Boateng spring to mind.. Bottom-line is if he wants to move on and we can agree a fee then good luck to him, we have had a number of good years out of him.

I tried to be polite but are you so fucking stupid that you can’t take an alternative opinion? I was reacting to Sterling’s body language on Sunday at the Trophy presentation and his non appearance last night, that was all, I didn’t criticise him and never will, there’s plenty of that in this thread but I don’t call the posters “tossers”.

You’re not as savvy as you like to think, demonstrated by your knowledge of Ralphy boy at the Rags, you were trying to convince everyone with your superior knowledge of how he would be a revelation and turn the Raggies into a force again. Pissed myself laughing at those posts and I’ve reminded you about it since, possibly why you’ve incorrectly called me out here.

If you look carefully at the first goal on Sunday, you can see why we should be keeping Sterling. Digne is no slouch and has a yard and a half on Sterling and is defending on his stronger side. Within two strides, however, Sterling has canceled that and turned it into a yard and a half advantage for himself. If you watch the same goal from the other side of the pitch, you can see that Sterling is not even looking at the touchline when he makes his move; he sells Digne with his eyes and then explodes away from him in two steps. We just don't have anyone else in the team who can move a team like that, and it's that pace and ability to stretch a team out wide that we'll need if Haaland's potential is to be exploited.
It was a brilliant move and a precision cross. Strangely, Gundo did a Sterling by being on the end of two great balls for tap-ins.

That said, Sterling is too erratic for me these days and if he goes, he goes.

There are always going to be performances like that against Wolverhampton Wanderers, but if he goes, then we have nobody on the right who has his pace and energy. Guardiola knows that with a more open system, he can depend on Sterling to give him 30 league starts. We don’t have anyone coming through who can offer that, and someone coming from outside might not be so reliable and would take time to develop.

The problem Sterling has is that while Real Madrid might look like an attractive prospect, he would be in game situations where his technical deficiencies would be quickly played upon and exploited.

He may want to go, but he may find that the grass isn’t greener, even if the money is.

I think if you compare Sterling to our other wingers it helps understand how you really feel

Who would you rather have in the team, based on all being fit and the formation not mattering because they can all basically play anywhere anyway

Foden or Sterling
Mahrez or Sterling
Silva or Sterling
Grealish or Sterling
Jesus or Sterling
Palmers potential or Sterling

for me it’s probably only Sterling ahead of Jesus.

Sorry I didn't realise we were in the presence of a body language expert. What's that like as a career? Must be incredible to have such incredible insight into a person without ever getting within 100 feet of them.

As for the Rangnick conversation - again I don't remember ever speaking to you but while I certainly thought he'd do better than he did, I know I didn't say he'd be a revelation so it looks like you're a liar and and a tosser.

In fact this is what I said about Rangnick just after he arrived -

I think it will go one of 2 ways. Either they’ll slowly improve under Rangnick and just grind out a 4th placed finish through late Ronald’s goals, De Gea bailing them out and Fernandez penalties.

Or the players will start throwing tantrums and they could finish 8th and Rangnick never gets his consultancy gig after this season and the whole thing is a disaster.

Putting Cole Palmer and his 2 league games ahead of Sterling and his 150 goals for the club did a really good job of illustrating how bad this take is.

Nope....As I believe Gabby is only going to get better and better, playing with Haaland could propel him to world class in my humble opinion..

However, on his game, Raheem is one of the best around. Sadly, I don't think he is going to reproduce the form from 2 years or so ago when he was unplayable. Maybe a change of scenery is in order, a win-win if you will, and I reckon RM wont be too far down the queue for his services.
If he does go, he goes with my utmost thanks and huge gratitude for his services and wish him every success in his future endeavors ....... except when he's up against us of course ;-)
On top of all he has done for us, he is a really decent guy and has done most with a smile on his face!

It’s pretty simple for me. If he wanted to stay he’d have signed the contract extension we’ve had on the table for ages. Instead he seems determined to run his contract down. All that talk about him wanting wages on par with De Bruyne was just ridiculous and something we were never going to agree to.

We can’t have a situation where we just let him leave on a free. We should just give him one more chance to sign an extension this summer and if he doesn’t then it’s time to offer him out to other clubs and see who bids.

I would understand if he wanted to go, more game time, test himself in another league etc. but next season could be his most prolific yet playing wide right, doing what he actually does best, running at defenders, beating them, crossing for a genuine CF. I reckon he would top the assists chart next season if he stays.

Could be completely wrong but I do think there is a problem between Pep and Raheem. There were press reports of a big fall out towards the end of last year.
