Sterling is a bad ass. Go find the montage of all of the goals from this season. He is up there with KDB and Rodri on variety of shots, and his finesse from distance is underrated. With a little luck on a few shots he would have had 18-20 goals this year.

The stat about his appearances I posted the other day speaks volumes. Another season and he'll have more appearances for the club than Vinny. People have their own very subjective ideas about what makes a club legend, but for me it's about appearances, trophies, and contributions to the aforementioned. Sterling is right up there with any other player we've had in the Guardiola era in terms of impact, and the Guardiola era happens to be the most successful in our club's history.

I can understand that he has weaknesses to his game as literally any other player does, but the consistent need by a small but vocal majority to talk him down is something that has always bothered me. Maybe it goes back to the daft twat sat next to me when we played Madrid in 2016. Spent the entire first half just randomly screaming abuse at Sterling.

Stating stats when said player is privileged enough to play in a system like ours is almost moot.

Your argument is not only completely stupid, but also self defeating.
 
Goals scored to sitters missed is a more accurate evaluation as it ignores the "playing for City quotient, ie we create more chances than the rest".Total goals scored cannot be the sole assessment, imho, Raz contributes with his ability to dribble, to act as decoy, to show for the ball at the crucial moments, a skill often missed by fans, and his pace has not left him. The peerless David Silva did not score as many goals that his talent suggests he should have done, but was virtually undroppable by virtue of all his other contributions, it comes down to Pep's opinion, which suits me. All i know is, no other player has frustrated me as much as the mercurial Raheem.... brilliant for the national team under the bland GS, prone to gaffes under the intensity of Pep....glad it's not my decision (should one be necessary)
 
Sterling has been our system player for ages when everything was fine, but unfortunately, his weaknesses have been exposed - lack of dynamic shot, lack of being clinical in front of the goal, lack of the cold blood, lack of wise decisions in the final third. etc.
He is still a very productive guy who is contributing well (the results are still great, it's about 15 goals and 10 assists - this is a great result). Nevertheless, he is not a frontal figure in our attack anymore and I doubt that he will try again. Our best results, especially in Europe, in 2020/21 and 21/22 were with Riyad and Phil as a wingers.

Lack of control on the ball...hence why he gets more stick than everyone else in the team. His lows are lower. End of.

I feel like a fair few are arguing his side based primarily on an ulterior motive. They literally respond like you are attacking their mother. Its really quite pathetic imo.

That the difference Sterling can sometimes be inconsistent, whereas Riyad puts in a 8 or 9 performance every game.
 
Instant impact against villa coming on and playing on the right. I've always though that's his most effective position but he's been squeezed out of it since Mahrez arrived and sane left.
 
Very clear pre & post lyon difference in the player. Lacks confidence.

A bit like Adama Traore.. amazing vs City but shit vs others.

Sterling likewise is amazing where he has room to run in behind or where a striker draws more attention so he's ignored and can tap in.

Very bad ball control which is a major con in a possession based team..

Wouldn't mind a younger player like say Cole Palmer be Sterlings replacement who according to pep has the biggest nose for goal in the squad.

...or not spoon a 4 foot pass, or fumble an easy ball, or look clueless when deciding what to do in a game defining moment.

He has his obvious strengths raheem. He has his moments for sure and he created our opening goal vs villa. But when looked at without rose tinted speccies on he has more wrong with his game than any of our other attackers.
