He also very rarely plays well against the best teams and best players.

Three that stick out were the EFL Cup final v Chelsea where he was poor, the Community Shield v Liverpool where he was poor and the FA Cup semi v Liverpool where he was poor.

He’s got passion and desire in abundance but you can see against the best that he’s not a specialist left back.

This is it in a nutshell. We all love the lad and his 100% passion and commitment but at the very top level he's found wanting. That's not his fault of course and in fairness left back isn't his natural position. At the very top level, which in the latter stages is the champions League, we also are often found wanting in the centre of defence and the keeper. That was proven against Madrid and a couple of seasons ago against Spurs.

Part of that is that he doesn’t play for months and then suddenly he’s thrown in for a huge game due to injury or suspension.

An absolute must for me. He can play as a regular left-back, left-wing-back, Left centreback in a 3, and even as a left winger if we need width since I remember seeing that he played there for the Catalonia national team recently.

Not sure how Zin would get more game time if Cucurella joins, I think if he joins Zin will go, but hope he stays.
