Next Manager after Pep

Off the top of my head - Enrique, Ancelotti.
Enrique has only won silverware with Barcelona which was a forgone conclusion & he's not really working wonders as the Spain coach so i wouldn't say he was an elite manager.
As for Ancelotti he's in his 60's in the twilight of his managerial career so i doubt he's a manager City would be interested in.

How exactly was winning a Champions League with Barcelona a forgone conclusion. I’d day he had merit in it. I also think he is doing a good job with Spain. The team plays good football and they don’t have the best squad

Whoever replaces Guardiola has to be an elite world class manager.

Vinny, Arteta and Viera aren’t even playing the same sport. Arteta has potential and was by all accounts a brilliant number two, but look at the way Arsenal bottled the top four this season. He’s nowhere near the top level yet.

Vinny is about as qualified as Solskaer.
At present yes , if Pep signs for another five years you have no idea how Vinnies managerial career will progress , he took over at Anderlecht with them 8th in the table with 43pts , he has left two years later in 3rd position and 64pts , a definite improvement , not sure Solksjaer had a similar influence on the Rags.

"a few years time" is the clue , Anderlecht/Burnley are a rung on the ladder , Ancelloti started out at Reggiana many years ago , he seems to have done alright he was Juventus manager within five years.
Before he had taken over Juventus he had come second place at Serie A with Parma. And even then, he wasn’t exactly successful at Juventus.

The truth is, it’s unthinkable at this time for a top English club to hire a manager with no experience in the latter stages of the Champions League let alone no Champions League experience

With all due respect (sincerely!), whatever a manager does at Anderlecht is entirely meaningless. It’s like a different sport than our level

Fans of every club always dream about ex players coming to manage them. It’s gone on all my life. Whether it’s Neville to Man United, Rosler to City, Viera to Arsenal, Gerard to Liverpool…whatever. They’ve all been nailed on to happen as soon as the junior manager starts.

I can think of twice when it happened in my life: Lanpard to Chelsea and Solskeir to United and both were disasters. The reason is because that “club connection” thing is just romance; it’s irrelevant.

When Pep leaves City will get the best manager available and will not be taking any chances whatsoever because we are a well run club. It’s impossible to say who that is right now because we don’t know who’s available.

Di Matteo won the Champions League with Chelsea, it doesn't make him an elite manager.
As for the Spanish national team i would say Enrique is doing an average job.

Wish people would remember what happened to the rags when they appointed solksjaer when shouting for kompany to come to city

It’s really difficult

Honestly my mind just goes back to Conte every time

Emery as an outsider maybe
Neither play the right way to take over from Pep. Ten Hag was my favourite. The fact he went to united suggests we think Pep's staying. So who the contenders are in 3 years or so, nobody knows.
If on the other hand he does go next summer, I think we have a problem, and a very short list. Enrique is the only one I can think of.

Yes I agree neither do, but it’s always assumed that a Manager cannot adapt to another style. I think it’s possible and that a winning record and mentality is more important in the absence of someone that has both of those AND plays a certain way. I could be wrong but I think Conte could adapt…he is a clever guy.

Conte doesn’t play like Pep, but I think we’ll be better off without a manager that is trying to copy Pep, because that’s likely to fail. I like Conte too and he’d do well with Haaland.

If Pep were to leave next summer, I’d try Flick, especially as he would already have done a WC with Germany. Nagelsmann will still be at Bayern probably

let's be honest , the man is as mad as a box of frogs but totally irreplaceable .

Yep with Pep it’s like a guarantee of trophies, whoever comes in next or we should hope for is we competing for the league and the cups. We will see a drop of because there is only one Pep!

Just hope the fans will realise that because we know first season without pep and we win nowt the media be out for the new manager.

Because I think if he thought he was in line for us next summer, and I think if we thought Pep was leaving he could well have been, he'd have waited another year at Ajax.
Or maybe he considered and thought the opportunity at United maybe could not come again. I don’t think he’d pass on it on the chance there could or could not be a better job in a year. He’d probably have been a possible Klopp successor at Liverpool as well
