It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

Sportrac reports Bernardo on a basic salary of £150k/wk, Gundogan on £10k/wk less. I have read on this thread De Jong is on somewhere between £400-£500k/wk!!! No wonder Barca has financial difficulties and needs to sell him!

he’s on 350k a week, he’s also taken a pay cut to help Barca.

They should tell Mendes to leave Nunes where he is until Bernardo's future is solved. Think it's way more likely we'd do a deal like that at that level than anything like FDJ.

As in Matheus Nunes could be a Bernardo replacement?

He looked really good in patches against us but I've not seen much more from him other than a couple of YouTube videos and nothing particularly stood out.

Regardless of him, I just seriously, seriously rate Frenkie de Jong and I think his form and reputation has been a victim of Barca collapsing in on itself over the last few years.

Put him in the hands of a great manager in a great team and I've got absolutely no doubt that he'll fulfill all his early promise.

Yes, that Nunes. I think he's made for the PL and will be a player that if he lands at Wolves, will surprise and impress a lot of people.

De Jong's contract precludes him from joining City IMO. There's a reason we very quickly distanced ourselves from the reports last month that we were even interested. He isn't coming in on more money than Haaland and KDB and he isn't going to take a pay cut when he doesn't even want to leave Barca.

Maybe I'd put more weight in the idea of him coming if there were reports that he'd take a cut to join Pep/City but so far all I see are reports he's desperate to stay. You know what City are like, they want players who are desperate to join the club, not players moved by money. Remember De Jong agreed to join City, then his agents pitched up with Barcelona's offer and said "match this and we'll join".

If Bernardo does go, which I don't believe he will, I expect to see a lot more of Grealish or Foden centrally. Don't see them making any signing. At best the tagline would be more minutes for Palmer.

This might go with Tolmies videos ages ago. But I do know a little bit that Atletico are pissed off with Mendes as he’s pushing Felix out of the club and telling Atletico to accept a 75 to 80 mil fee if one comes in also due to Atleticos financial situation they would have to accept, He could be doing the same with Bernardo.

If Bernardo or Sterling leaves we need 1 more player IMO, assuming Jesus is gone and Phillips comes to replace Ferna. 2 if both are gone. Grealish and Foden pick up a lot of injuries and I doubt will be able to meet the availability of Beranrdo or Sterling.

If we don't replace then sounds to me like the exact issue when Kompany or Aguero left and weren't immedaitely replaced. Yes, we can still compete but there will be a weakness in the squad that could hit us hard if we get unlucky.

As for names, no need to sign an absolutely top player. Similar transfer to Torres would be fine, not expected to carry the team and maybe won't play the biggest games but can still contribute. If we want someone more high profile than Olmo from Leipzig for example is a good shout. Very similar profile to Bernardo.

The Barcelona mouthpieces are saying that Bernardo has asked City to listen to any offer from Barcelona for him. That isn't going to do down well in our boardroom either. The valuation is the valuation. Pay it or fuck off. If clubs like Villa and West Ham can act like that, we absolutely can..

Like I said, I'm not sure what to believe when it comes to how much the lad is on at Barca. Don't get me wrong, I expect it would at least put him amongst our top earners.

I do think he's open to leaving, however, and it seems like he's really dragging his feet over a potential united move. I'd suspect there could be a fairly big compromise for the right club. Whether that's a pay cut or a lowered basic salary with attainable bonuses, I don't know.

Not sure it will happen and my first choice is still to keep Bernardo but if a player of that quality is to leave then I think we should be looking at bringing in the very best we can.

Yes. FDJ.
