It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

If Jesus and sterling both do go then we are covered up top I can see us playing different this season and hopefully couple youth in there its more if sliva going we need the cover for him could get some like barella inter Milan in or that Fernández from river plate and they should be a lot least than what we sell sliva for 80m

We might but probably we’ll still win the league like we usually do , so all good

People already going batshit crazy when we can't immediately replace Aguero after he left the club, already doom and gloom we will not win anything last season yet we still won the league anyway with an okay result of cup competitions on both semis CL and FA Cup. That's still pretty good for a team without true striker.

I may get lynched for saying it but Neymar may not be the bad egg in the dressing room people make out. He’s obviously liked by all his PSG teammates, he was at Barca too and in the Brazilian squad as well.

Reminds me of Pogba (known to be positively vocal in the dressing room and also helps with young players) where it’s become the norm to see them as knobheads and poison in the squad because of preconceived opinions you have about them rather than any facts.

Personally, I’d be all over Neymar given the chance but doubt it’ll happen but both player and Pep have given public praise about one another in the past.

I see what you are saying and he can work wonders in our team . But when you see the things like these in the tweet below - you think Pep would tolerate that ?

Apart from setting up Gundo’s first goal in the last game of the season you mean?
Come on mate. My comment was in jest with a sprinkling of the truth. If some on here really believe Sterling is "that guy" then fair enough. I don't, I think technically he has regressed massively and I thank him for his efforts, goals and contributions but id rather bank the money now.

Either way we are paying him regardless and I’d rather have someone playing who wants to be here. I’ve zero issue with the club benching him for a season if needs be to send a message to clubs around the world and players that we won’t be mugged off. The likes of Real, Barça etc won’t want players benched they are interested in, we have had an offer on the table for Sterling for a season now (allegedly) so it’s pretty clear he’s no intention of signing it and it running the clock down. I’m all for players leaving if they want, but on our terms and at the right price! It’s not as if we’ve left it last minute.
Don’t you think that would do more damage than good when trying to attract new players?

Plus why wouldn’t you use an asset to your advantage?

There could be a bit of an evolution with how we play next season if we lose Sterling and Jesus. I imagine we'll push hard for Cucurella so our full backs can play high and provide the width we need, with our techincal attacking players playing a little narrower to create. We may even see the wing backs and 2 up top formation we saw a few times in the Centurions season.

I do feel we need a replacement for Sterling, but we'll have to trust Pep and the club on this one. I'm sure they have a plan.

A lot of squad depth issues are solved if we just keep Zinchenko. Both fullback and midfield depth is covered for the season. The only depth missing is the attcking depth, just missing one.

You're presuming an awful lot on what Sterling "thinks" there bud, if he does want a change (back to his childhood home or whatever) then good luck to the lad. Let's not turn into the dippers.
I'm really not presuming anything...I'm asking if he wants to leave why not leave now when we can be compensated as opposed to running out his contract?...he can go back to his childhood team, no problem...and I would wish him well too...So since I'm the one presuming how about you share your thoughts on why he would run out his contract...

For me personally, I dont think we are in any desperate need to replace Sterling (or Jesus) if we sell them. Foden, Grealish, Mahrez, Palmer and Alvarez can all play in the 2 wing positions. Palmer looked great the times we saw him last season and I wouldnt mind to see him getting a bigger role this year being 4th/5th choice in those positions. With that said I would obviously have nothing against us signing a new elite winger either. It just wouldnt be a high priority for me with us already having signed Haaland and Alvarez as attacking players and we already have decent cover up front with Foden (Grealish) - Haaland (Alvarez) - Mahrez (Palmer).

A much bigger issue would be if we sell Bernardo. We simply cant replace him within the squad, and pretty much any potential signing would be a downgrade, at least in the short term. He really is a world class player and we are usually a worse team when he's not playing. How well we would manage to replace him will be key to how successful our season becomes. Hopefully its just rumors and he stays!

Lol, don’t worry - I’m not gonna get in a back and forth about it mate - after I’d made my post and read on, I realised you then put a bit of a shift in on here this afternoon defending what you’d written, so I’m not tryna get you to go over it all again, honestly ;-)

If we get Cucurella we can also be playing with attacking wing backs, him and Cancelo, with Walker playing on the right of the 3 like he does for England sometimes so at least we keep his pace at the back.
