The Conservative Party

Where would they come from? Thought we were world leading in full employment.
From current rail staff?
Leave and get a higher rate of pay via agency?
Of course only in the short-term, and with zero job security, and zero benefits such as pension and sick pay and holiday pay and ...
They'll be counting on enough taking the Queen's shilling to make it viable.

I think you'll find agency staff may be paid less. It just costs the employer more.

They will pay more to entice qualified people away from rail companies, especially if they can leave and get a redundancy package.
Higher pay from the agency dressed up as skills premium, probably only in the short-term.
The agencies costs will be lower as they don't have the same overheads on employees.
The price will be slightly lower given all factors such as not carrying absence costs through holidays and sick.

To be straight, it is not my preferred option but how I can see it being mapped out / spun in the media.
Same staff provided by an agency at a lower overall cost.
The likes of Serco and Capita are the ones to watch.

Agency work is never cheaper for the employer.

Of course but they’d be better off having them on zero hour contracts than through an agency, wouldn’t they?

Not necessarily no. If someone is employed through an agency you have less liability towards them than if they were directly employed.Depends on the sector as well.

Zero hours might work for a teenager in mcdonalds or amazon distribution warehouse workers but it is less likely to attract office workers or skilled railway workers.

You also seem to be overlooking that employers can use agency staff to keep wage growth down, and save costs on overtime.

I’ve put us up to take one of those families. Council got in touch, explained the situation etc so there is some proactive action happening. I appreciate you wanted to score some political points there mate but just wanted to say they aren’t sleeping in shop doorways and, as a country, councils are trying to sort it. Reasons are mostly location doesn’t work or people volunteered to house them for, let’s say, questionable reasons.

The government should have done way more in supporting the process of matching volunteers with refugees of that there is no doubt. It’s been a shambles, no other way to describe it.

It was difficult for them - they wanted to APPEAR to be doing something to please some voters and APPEAR to be doing nothing to appease the others - looks like they managed it

Well I suppose they’ll point to the payments they offered. Other than that they’ve done fuck all. Councils have stepped in so at least help is there, imagine being in a foreign land and having to put up with this.

I’ve said before if something can be solved by throwing money or weapons at it then Boris is your man. Sadly most things require a little more finesse.

Weird.
Some guy on the BBC politics show earlier today mentioned Brexit and this was immediately laughed off and brushed aside rather hastily.
It's become akin to showing a man's erection on television.
Think the tweet is in relation to the guy who stands in Parliament Square and shouts very loudly. The law change came in today and he had a swarm of coppers surround him and confiscate his megaphone.

Aye, I saw the post/video earlier.

Just meant that particular word sounds off more than sirens now. Shut's down BBC conversations and now protestors by the sounds of it. It's gone taboo like 'alan' and stiffies on TV (at least terrestrial TV...).

It’s too soon to talk about it.

We’re in the thoughts and prayers stage at the moment.

quite the opposite - its become like trying to discuss erectile dysfunction on BBC breakfast - its just best not mentioned.

( I was going to say best not to raise the subject then realised how that looked lol )
