Hip Hop/Rap Appreciation thread

Nice one mate, hope alls well n good with you.

Yeah knew quite a few of em, use to talk with 'Bertie' (as i called him) Prodigy/Albert often when on the Archer Ave n Parsons block in Queens.

Where i rest at when back across the pond is Brownsville n East Flatbush tho i did tend to get around a lot in a few other states n thus bump heads with many in n around the game.

Phife the Five foot assassin, Gang Starr, X Clan, M.O.P, the whole Bootcamp Clik, Brand Nubian, Big L, KRS, Ice Cube n Da Lench Mob, Roxanne Shante, Memphis Bleek, Poor Righteous Teachers, KMD, De La, Masta Ace etc etc way too many to mention lol

Sad that so many have gone, may they all Rest In Beats.

Can I ask you, did you ever attend any of the Bloc parties, back in the day?

I had this killer tape with Mos Def and Dave Chapelle hosting and all kinds of MCs hopped on. Tape got lost but I used to jam it on my box all day.

The set was fire and I, badly, miss not having it to chill to!

The one Chappelle (04) did was jus one event, i was in the area with friends but a few blocks away over on the fringes off of Gates, didn't see a single artist or get anywhere near the actual stage set n we really never intended to as the number of rugrats rendered it pointless to try, it also assed it down lol

Don't think that MCs line-up can be beaten in terms of positivity hip hop laced with a tad of neo soul ...Native Tongues on steroids be the only thang to come close.

As for actual block parties, best ones were mid-late 90s during the Labor Day parade weekends off the Eastern Parkway, 1997 summer ranks the best for me personally, twas an absolute swelterin furnace.

You gonna make me go through my sneaker boxes of tapes n get to jammin haha

I so miss the ability to simply jus press the record button on any given HOT 97 megamix back in the day...

Lost count at amount of times the sheer thought of remembering this vid had me randomly busting out in fits of laughter ...the 2:28 min mark when the woman crashes her bike!

Whoo, @Maintainin on a tear!! Haha!

Follow me, Bruh, drop your best female songs in your opinion.

For me, this one song is far and above anything I've heard and I like 'Rah Digga' and 'The Lady of Rage'

First up to the plate it has to be Shante, hands down her ridiculous' flow n delivery was built for smoke...

Such an all rounded n grounded knowledgeable woman off the mic to boot.

Another i know n have conversed with many times on Presidents Street n Lincoln Terrace.

She also knew one of my sisters who is no longer with us.
