4th CB is the most difficult signing to make. The requests are for first team regulars at big clubs who are looking out for the World Cup. Not many are willing to take at that gamble where we have 3 top quality players in place.
Ultimately, if we don’t think we can find a replacement for Ake for the money we could get for him, we need to pull the plug on the transfer.4th CB is the most difficult signing to make. If there aren't many suitable targets it is better to keep the Ake money than waste it on a player who will probably not get much game time between now and Qatar. Salisu would of been good but he is more valuable to Southampton than us.Sorry Ray, but there's absolutely no good reason not to replace Ake if he leaves...ZERO!!!
I agree on that but if Chelsea are matching our valuation and he wants to leave for more game time we can't really stop himUltimately, if we don’t think we can find a replacement for Ake for the money we could get for him, we need to pull the plug on the transfer.
We absolutely can if we don’t have an alternative.I agree on that but if Chelsea are matching our valuation and he wants to leave for more game time we can't really stop him
What are we debating?...we did have 4 CBs last season and still wound up playing both Dinho and Rodri there in enormous games including with the title on the line...not ideal in the least...now some are advocating we go with 3...why? we have the resources, draw and everything we need to replace Ake...its a no brainer...why would a great side like ours who spares no expense in every single facet both on the field and off needlessly handicap ourselves by going that lean at CB?...for what reason exactly...and please don't anyone say to save a few bucks...
Rodri made his way back there...not in the Villa game, but I'll go back to see what game...we're in agreement...it got hairy with 4 CBs in the squad, so how can going with 3 be even a remotely good idea?Pretty much, although I don’t think Rodri had to drop back, which he would have done had we only had 3 senior centre halves.
We can but we will have a seriously pissed off player on our hands. We absolutely can if we don’t have an alternative.
He's certainly challengedCrossbar challenge.
It can’t if we are ever really serious about every trophy.Rodri made his way back there...not in the Villa game, but I'll go back to see what game...we're in agreement...it got hairy with 4 CBs in the squad, so how can going with 3 be even a remotely good idea?
True, but he still has to play for his place in the Dutch squad. We can but we will have a seriously pissed off player on our hands.
Liverpool have got 4 legitimate, professional CBs...We we’re unlucky. Liverpool went the whole season with VVD and their other centre half.
We’ll be alright with 3 world class centre halfs.
No other PL team has got 3 better centre halfs. Remember that.
If he did request a transfer he would probably lose bonuses from us.True, but he still has to play for his place in the Dutch squad.
If he didn’t request a transfer, he couldn’t be that upset anyway.
Exactly, so if he wants to go, maybe he has to force a move.If he did request a transfer he would probably lose bonuses from us.
He's certainly challenged
I'd also prefer he stays...but if he chooses to push for a move the answer can't then be fuck it, he was good for us and played a key role so we'll just let him go AND not replace him...i don't see how that's a solid plan...makes no sense and I guarantee if he does leave we will 100% bring in another CB...It’s a damn shame losing Aké. He did so well against Atletico Madrid and other good teams this season. It’s hard finding a centreback as good as he is, playing so little. I’d hate to lose him.
Yes but there are many professional CBs throughout Europe who we could get for > 25 mil that would serve the purpose, offer some protection and hopefully keep Rodri and Phillips in the midfield where they belong...If there aren't many suitable targets it is better to keep the Ake money than waste it on a player who will probably not get much game time between now and Qatar. It is just finding that niche signing is the issue.Yes but there are many professional CBs throughout Europe who we could get for > 25 mil that would serve the purpose, offer some protection and hopefully keep Rodri and Phillips in the midfield where they belong...
If there is one about they'll find it. If not they'll pay for the best option. It is just finding that niche signing is the issue.
