It’s finally online-the Peter Swales video we’ve been waiting for P31

From this 1981 Granada TV documentary for anyone who hasn’t seen it

I have watched that documentary so many times, it represents my first city memories as an 8 year old and it is a must watch for fans young and old. Once you see it you get it, you get City. We are not a small club that got lucky, we are a big club that got unlucky. Unlucky to have Swales as chairman from 1973 to 1993, a 20 year tenure that took nearly as long to get over. As far as I am concerned the last 10 years have been karma and reward for being the greatest fanbase in English football. What happened to Liverpool in the early 70s or United in the early 50s could have been us, except it wasn’t. Our Phoenix from the Flames was in early 2010s, just the same way we had to suck it from the rags and the dippers they have to from us now.

Well said

Swales was in it for himself. He was a greedy jumped up twat who nearly killed off a great football club. Franny got so many things wrong but if he hadn't wrestled the club out of that slimey bastards hands we would probably be Coventry City or far worse by now
Franny had one thing in mind when he took over: Franny

No chant. Impeccable silence
I remember that game like it was yesterday, I hated Swales with a passion but I was so proud of our fans respecting the minutes silence they way they did that day, we have always had a good record respecting minutes silences until that shambles at Wembley v the dippers last season when half of us didnt even know there was going to be one.

The minute’s silence was most definitely NOT observed by City fans for Busby when we played at Anfield.

Thank fuck for Bernstein.
That’s a great shout, as much as I loved Kevin Keegan, I was gutted when we lost Bernstein, as I saw him, probably the first chairman (in my lifetime) who I had the utmost confidence in, a man of true integrity who knew what it took to steady the ship and get it moving in the right direction, was a big loss imo.

Some fantastic memories, angry crowds massed outside the mosaic entrance, the air thick with fags and booze and anarchy and tension. Utter chaos. Loved it.
Yeah ‘We’re shit and we’re sick of it’, Swales and staff peeping out of the small windows to see the angry crowds outside the main entrance. We certainly rose to the occasion in those days :)
