Cover versions you think were better than the originals

Didn't know it was a cover until recently, but I do prefer this to the original.

I've always liked Eloise by The Damned and the Pet Shop Boys version of Always On My Mind

The Pet Shop Boys cover of that is excellent. Watched them at Glastonbury and booked tickets for next year on the back of it

I honestly don’t understand why so many people think it’s better than the original. Absolutely no way is it.

This is blasphemy.

NIN version is great, but the arrangement and Cash’s vocals take it to another level. My humble opinion, of course.

They also recorded some truly dreadful cover versions - Jambalaya and Desperado.
Calling Occupants of Interplanetery Craft was the lowest point - why cover a crap song and make it sound even more crap?? Leave that to Shaking Stevens.

True, it was #1 in Ireland. According to Wikipedia the Carpenters used “a crew of 160 musicians” when recording it!!!
