Did we watch the same game?Rolls Royce of a player , he makes the right decision nearly every time our most creative player against the Dippers , he is going to tear teams apart this season.

Looking at the man of the match vote on here , you didnt :)Did we watch the same game?
I must have watched another game then. Absolute shite defensively and very sloppy overallRolls Royce of a player , he makes the right decision nearly every time our most creative player against the Dippers , he is going to tear teams apart this season.
No he doesn't. Zinchenko played a fair amount of games last and the previous season when cancelo dropped off.The worst part is if Pep benches him, he's 100% the kind of player to bitch and moan. Zinchenko>Cancelo all day.
Thought all our defence was shaky but Cancelo was our best player going forward , the Dippers had two wide players over nearly every time they attacked , agree to disagree , and certainly not shite.I must have watched another game then. Absolute shite defensively and very sloppy overall
Really?Azpi (and Walker too) are more reliable defenders in their own half of the pitch, but Cancelo is a pressing machine and defensively very important to a high-pressing team like ours. He was among the best in the league wrt pressing actions last season.
Cancelo's problem is that people apply non-Pep criteria for his defensive work, i.e. they measure his usefulness in defence by traditional criteria which don't apply to Pep teams. We have the best defence in Europe -- not because our defenders are the best in traditional ways, but due to the intense high-pressing.
Really?
That would be too much the other way. Walker is too defensive in comparison. If I said Kyle needs to be more like Cancelo you would think I was mental. I actually think they compliment each other quite well but both have annoying habits.Just needs to keep it simple like Kyle, cut out the fancy footwork and let the ball go on time. He makes his work difficult for himself and I really don't know why.
Absolutely. Best FB in the league, even if some on here don't like him. Walker is phenomenal defensively, but doesn't offer enough in the build-up and the attack. Cancelo is more versatile than any FB in the league and fundamental to this Pep team. He's the closest thing to D. Alves, but even Alves couldn't play on the left at that level.
Kyle's reliability gives him the edge. I believe Cancelo can just be as reliable if he places more emphasis on defending and forget all about the trickery. That would be too much the other way. I'm not going to argue.Absolutely. Best FB in the league, even if some on here don't like him. Walker is phenomenal defensively, but doesn't offer enough in the build-up and the attack. Seeing as neither are much good defensively, but Trent offers a far better attacking output, I don't see how Cancelo can be better than him.
Kyle didn’t look overly reliable today for their 3rd as it was floating over his head. How many times have we seen that over the years from him? Plenty. We forgive those lapses because we know that in general he is very good at the things we want from him and we understand that nobody is perfect. As long as the good outweighs the bad in the long run it’s all good. I always think the good significantly outweighs the bad with Cancelo. Some disagree.Kyle's reliability gives him the edge.
