West Ham United (A) | Sun 7th Aug | Post Match Thread

I don’t think they are seriously criticising, rather a comparison which confirms we did the right thing to let him go. People were asking whether we would miss his pace and his goals. The answer is no.
But you can't compare the 2 one is a wide player, and one is an out and out striker, and we did miss a bit of width today in my opinion

From Sadcafe....

Something tells me City planned this signing all along. I think they always wanted Haaland and used Ronaldo to play us for fools, thus, giving them a free run at him.
Christ, we're a shit show in comparison these days and damn it hurts.

I expected a much tougher game today but after a frantic opening few minutes we totally controlled the game. West Ham just couldn't get the ball. Every player was superb, Cancelo and Grealish got better and better as the game went on too. A great weekend, the scouse scum dropping points and the rags getting beat.

A very good, controlled performance.

I was delighted, as I’m sure we all were that Erling got off the mark. And with a penalty, too! I know it’s only one, and others have looked good with their first, but even in that department, Håland looks a cut above. I don’t think he will have any problems adapting to the Premier League.

The Hammers never really looked a threat, though at 0-0 or 1-0, there is always the possibility of an upset. The second goal was very welcome and it never looked like Håland would miss. I thought Nathan, Rodri and Joāo were very good, though none of them was poor.

A great start to the season. If Carlsberg did football weekends…

Seriously? It's one match, if people are expecting him to score a hat trick every week they could be in for a shock.
Oh for Gods sake, the guy has said it himself. No one is expecting a hat trick every week, my main point was how the team makes best use of him.
