West Ham United (A) | Sun 7th Aug | Post Match Thread

Errrr. I’m just watching Sky Sports News and Gary Neville …I haven’t seen the match but I thought the first half goal was a penalty? So what utter gumf is he talking? ‘City in the first half scored a goal where they had to get the ball close to him’ WHAT? he was fouled and got a penalty..DUH ‘They slotted the ball through to him….NO YOU UTTER BERK he was FOULED …. Yes the lead up to the foul might have been like that but it was a penalty.
The rest of the interview was yawn inducing!
Do Sky actually pay him for these pearls of ignorance and absurdity? I wouldn’t pay the jester in sheep dung.

JMHO :-)

Be honest; he insulted Boulders at some point in the past, didn't he?

Ever the pessimist, I expected a hard-fought draw but the lads played some good stuff, comfortable as you like it. My personal highlight was Alvarez twatting cnut-gob Zouma straight on his cnut gob with the ball in the dying minutes. Future legend in the making he is, our Julian.

Haaland cocking

Some views on the game. We missing game flow as we use to have at the moments during last season , creating chance after chance , with this of a kind Haaland and Alvarez that would be devastating.

Grealsih poor preformance, but in his defence , he had nobody up , left or nearby him,. Cancelo was too much inside.

Gundogan .... he ruin the game
Also we have a lot of possesion and defence stability with inside fullbacks, but with that kind of play we are toothless on the wide , there is like no danger from the flanks on the opp. Goal. Pep have to figure that out , did we have like 2 crosses today?
Grealish had a good game

Grealish had a good game
Grealish had a much better second half than he did the first half along with Cancelo. I'd say they were told at HT to buck up, It was more so giving the ball away sloppy in the first half. The second half he used the ball well and was making good runs in behind he was also able to play higher up the pitch in the second half instead of having to constantly come deep for the ball in the first half.

The tactics today really surprised Moyes. Pep’s conversation with Ferguson a while back resonated. You have to keep refreshing the squad, so that the message doesnt become stale. We are seeing the benefits of the team overhaul.
The limitations of Moyes tactics clearly exposed.

Just back home from that scorcher. That was a game run almost like a basketball or NFL game by the prodigious manager. I don't know how it looked on TV, but seeing Kyle and Joao running DM was fun to watch in real time. Jack and Phil were pure facilitators doing things on the sides and sacrificing themselves for action to develop elsewhere. Joao was outrageous at everything he has done and Rodri made himself worth £600 mil if Declan is £150 mil player. Gundo almost blew it with that automatic 'pass' in the second half, but apart from that I don't see the best 11 without him in the squad, he is actually running the whole game. And how even to comment KdB and Halland, just ridiculous, you know it is going to happen. But for me, Joao was head and shoulders above anybody else on the pitch, £7 pint of beer is worth for watching a player like him for 90 minutes.
The point is we have more superb players than 11. If Alvarez had played 60 mins, you would be raving about him. Similarly Bernado. We are awesome now.
Some people seem to have been surprised by how good Ake was today. He is excellent, as Pep said he doesn’t make mistakes. Improving all the time, Chelsea wanted him back. No way should we let him go, he’ll get plenty of minutes this year.

Good of Moyes to come out and admit that it was Pep’s tactical switch that completely threw them. Wham couldn’t get close
