Sure and he knows when to chest the ball and collapse on defender impact to win free kicks to get your team up the pitch.

It’s not a criticism as such. It’s a skill.

Unfortunately, it’s the start of the season and the refs are trying to let the game flow.
That won't last. Like the early "tackle" on Grealish, it will end with someone badly injured if players think the bar for "reckless" is a lot lower.

Watched MoTD last night and although I’ve seen Haaland play a few times I suddenly realised what an absolute beast he is - my god he’s something else. Bournemouth must be bricking it. What a signing. Keep the lad in cotton wool and unleash him as required.

In a world literally gone mad in relation to transfer costs, Haaland seems a bargain at the reported £50m. We haven’t spent that cumulatively on transfers since we were founded in 1123.

I hope we don’t get you in the CL. It would be a shame fucking up your impetus by hammering you home and away. ;)
We can always rely on Joe Hart to throw one in for us
:-)

I can actually understand the fans of other clubs say that it's boring to watch City when all they see is the small segment of the pitch that's shown on TV. What they don't get to watch is the movement of the players to create the space for others to pass the ball as another player comes in to fill that gap. It's metronomic at times. It's like we're performing a play called Death by a thousand passes. We've just taken football to new levels and long may it continue.

An absolute footballing masterclass and you found it tedious?.... Wow!... maybe football isn't for you mate.
It's the beautiful game, but constant recycling and passing back is simply not as exciting as trying to take on an opponent (or two) and occasionally getting past but more often running into a dead end and losing the ball. Sterling - remember him? - often tried it but then was blamed for not succeeding every time (aka "making the wrong choice"). We don't get those passing / possession stats by losing the ball. And it tires out the opposition.

But yesterday for some of the passes back (a lot actually) the better option seemed to turn with the ball and face goal. Maybe there's still a "typical City" mentality that says we know we can always lose a two goal lead...

Same here....

Then I thought of Jesus or Sterling running onto that ball...I loved both of those but it would have been 50-50 whether it would have ended in a goal or not...we saw it so many times....

Reminded me of how Henry use to finish those type of chances
Hopefully I don't sound like we're knocking either of those players but I agree. Both did great things at City but neither could be described as clinical. The timing of his run was superb. No way the move could be stopped. Haaland even had the composure to go round the ball so he could hit it with his favoured foot

Euston station on the way home was hilarious as droves of u....d fans got off there trains and were mocked to a peak level. Those retro 90's shirts they were sporting will be back in the loft today. Some bemused Brighton fans were swapping hand shakes and high fives with jubilant Blues right in front of the enemy.

All that is mad talk. But I dont think its wrong to say anyone is bothered by them. I dont watch much of them but they bother me greatly and are the second result i look at. They definitely live rent free in my head.

Reply....

Fuck this I’m charging City from now on , no more living in my head rent free .
I wonder what the first result he looks for, surely he knows his own teams result?

Think we just need to get into a rhythm.....it will take 5-6 games, just like last season....

I agree, a number of times forward passes were on and players didnt make them. I also think in the firs half we were almost trying to find Haaland too much at times.

That rhythm will come

They ain't retro.

What an afternoon (in what is still my most hated away ground). Excellent performance from so many, and what a way to make a Premier League debut from the mighty Haaland. Didn't another striker start with a brace in their debut game, and go on to be just a little bit special?

So just one grumble (as you'd expect). Some great singing from the Blues, particularly on Zouma and Keane (when the beardy twat was spotted in the second half)...but the 'Erling Haaland is a Blue, is a Blue, is a Blue, Erling Haaland is a Blue, he hates (a certain German city)', leaves me a little uncomfortable. I absolutely loath the Rags like every decent Blue, but it would be a shame if this becomes Halaand's song of choice. Love to know other thoughts?

I’ve noticed the M word being used more often over the last year. It’s creeping back in amongst a certain crop of our fan base.
