The most bewildering thing is their bid for Arnautovic…a 33 yr old has been…just crazy

Shows you exactly the kind of players they can attract. Players talk to each other and I reckon in their circles playing for that Red shit doesn't even compute. If you are any kind of good, why the fuck would you go and play for the 7th best team in England? They talk about history but a 21/22 year old player was fucking 11! Last time they won anything of note. They are absolutely fucked. Fucked.

It sort of feels like the rags are at the stage we were under Swales throwing money about desperately trying to stay relevant and brushing shoulders with the big boys, but absolutely no plan or stratgey to what they are actually wanting to achieve..

"Veronique Rabiot has gained a reputation as something of a battle-axe in France, having once confronted Paris Saint-Germain coach Laurent Blanc in a car park.

Once it became apparent Rabiot had decided to leave PSG, the club's chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi was relieved the club would not have to deal with his mother again."

You could argue the same with more or less every other club in the prem. Only 2 are special and only 4 will make it They are firmly ensconsed with the remaining 13 whether they like it or not and whether they understand it or not. From now on and for the foreseeable it's a question of top half or bottom half. They are no different than the rest.
I see what you are getting at. I suppose my point is that (say) West Ham or Brighton might not be winning the PL any time soon, but they are well managed and have a coherent strategy. They are not a joke, making ridiculous signings and expecting to win the CL on the strength of them. Their grounds are not falling apart. Their fans have realistic expectations. Above all, they are making small, but sustained progress, not constantly finding a fresh crisis.

The Rags have huge resources (moneywise) but what progress have they made these last X years? At best, they are treading water, and other clubs with smaller resources and much smaller fan bases are doing better.

Yes and it's fucking lovely isn't it?
Apparently Lee Bradbury is on their radar as a new striker

This shows how low they have fallen. The arrogance from them has been, it doesn't matter so much that we've missed out on Champions League because we are a club that will still attract world class players. Now they are bidding for players like Arnautovic. It's fucking hilarious.

Does their board have no idea how amateurish they look, not to mention turning into a laughing stock? Asking for a friend…
