Aston Villa (A) | PL | Post-Match Thread

Great point after such a lacklustre performance. Just keep matching the scousers results and we will be fine. Think we prioritised Tuesday night and it showed as our usual intensity was way off.

Good job we haven’t had a tough game without using the subs well before a CL away game!
We always look sloppy and tired when we shouldn’t. Just had the easiest game in midweek but we were wrong from the beginning today

The use of subs is odd though, can't see how alvarez and grealish would hurt when everyone is looking knackered
But if we had scored our chances and won 3-1 absolutely no one would be questioning Pep. All on the players today.

Newcastle was a good point, this one is like a loss, Villa are trash but we gave them belief with a pathetic first half performance, second half was better but we missed chances to kill the game and paid for it with crap defending for the equaliser.
We have Spurs next and I'm always worried when we face them so this was a bad result.

Far too slow, too sloppy, too relaxed, everyone waiting for the game to come to them, lack of application, lack of energy, some very fucking poor decision making, and helped out by a terrible decision by the officials/VAR to disallow Villa’s winner.

I know there was a long time to go after that and we could have gone up the other end from the kick off and scored ourselves, but if I was a Villa fan I’d feel massively fucked over there.

But it’s a point, let’s put this one behind us as just one of those shite performances that we deserved very little from because nobody played well.
Really good summing up of the performance. Very lacklustre. Don’t know why Alvarez didn’t come on. Rodri was crap, as was Walker. Very surprised after weds game.
We could always do the klopp thing and say the grass was too long/ dry.
