Aston Villa (A) | PL | Post-Match Thread

KDB,Bernie and Haaland only 3 on it in the second half.
Watkins always gives our defenders trouble when he plays.
We move on

Very lacklustre performance. Our passing left a lot to be desired. We had chances to put the game to bed, but we were very wasteful or made wrong decisions, or played a slack pass. Very disappointed with Foden, Gundogan, Walker & Rodri. We can get away with the odd player below par, but not 4 key players. I’m not enamoured with Walker playing this new playmaker role, he should revert to full back Pep! Disappointed today, need to improve for Tuesday and Spurs.

There was a lot of niggle going on in that game, Bernardo was targetted and it was right to take him off before one of their cloggers injured him.

Villa are starting to take on the personality of their manager, lot of effort but a bit quick to leave a bit on the opposition For my taste.

We looked a bit off it from the first minute, but even then we still had enough to win the game. The Coutinho ‘goal’ was offside, and everyone stopped so lets not get too giddy about that.

Not at our best, take the point and we move on.

I don't understand the lack of changes because I assume the starting eleven today will be the same on Tuesday, weird shit again re subs from Pep, he just doesn't like making multiple changes

Nobody providing options all day we got what we deserved Foden needs dropping useless and overhyped
I agree he needs to buck up a bit, but useless and overhyped is hyperbolic as the so called hype. He's 22 - about the time most kids get their first taste of first team football. Kids have a dip when they get figured out slightly and the really really good ones kick on. Phil is one of them. It'll come.

No over reaction,its justified criticism.

Sit and happily clap if you wish, but dont have a pop at others for calling it as they see it.
We jad 12 clear chances vs 2 from then. We were poor, but as usual BM overreacts. We have more points after 6 PL games than in the last 2 seasons. We will be winning the league again, especially because Chelsea and Liverpool have started really poor

I assume some weren’t used today to keep for champions league. Still some better sub thinking available. Don’t like it when our wingers don’t try to get to the byline more. Or if they’re going to sit that high, then we need some aggressive overlaps or runs underneath. Feel like kdb was the only one down there all match - and got the cross for the goal.

Didn't think we were near it in the first half, we likely would've been if Walker squares the ball to Haaland early but not to be.

Thought the second half up until their goal we should've put them away. Erling does his usual and scores, Kev hits the bar, Haaland has two saved and Villa rode their luck and scored a cracker, sometimes you just have to say fair play to the opposition. They aren't or didn't do anything special just rode their luck and put away their only chance. It happens, that's football.

No time to dwell on it, I thought Alvarez would've given them fits but hopefully he starts against Sevilla and Haaland can have a rest with the Spurs game coming up.

Take the point and move on for me. We'll have a few more games like this during the season so no need to throw the baby out with the bath water.

Probably get slaughtered for this, but when pep arrived he said Sergio needed to adapt and work harder, best goal scorer in the clubs history, yet haaland comes in and is there just to score, haalands work rate is piss poor, yes get a ball to him he will score, but in the meantime we are playing with a.man light, haalands work rate is appalling
